Frothing Problems

Lately with the Silvia I can't seem to froth the milk at all.

Basically when I put the wand in the milk I get a very violent reaction with bubbles everywhere and it's impossible to get decent frothed milk, I've no idea what has caused this as it was fine up until a few weeks ago.

I've de scaled the machine, maybe this needs to be done again.

Is it possible that there is water coming through as well as steam that could cause this?

Apart from that I've no idea what the problem could be. Any ideas?

Seriously, try a few different brands of milk. I had real bad results frothing last week and was blaming the machine however a change of brand of milk and normality is restored.

    Thanks

I'll try that but I've been using the same milk for a while without issue.

What type of milk have you found to work well?

I user Supermilk and its fine.

Are you putting the tip fully under then turning on the valve to get a spinning motion then bringing it upto the surface?
I find purging for a few seconds before you start helps too, the first few seconds of steam are pretty intense, but once you purge it should be fine.
I'm probably doing it all wrong anyway, but it seems to work!

Tend to use the full fat milk, organic for us or Glensisk organic or some such is usually what I use. Wouldn't be mad on using low fat milk. Not sure what the supermilk is like.

I think so, not really payed much attention to how I'm doing it as I haven't really changed my technique. That sounds like what I'm doing, but as soon as I turn the valve the milk goes a bit crazy bubbling everywhere.

Yeah I always do this, but maybe need to leave it for a second or 2 longer.
