where can we use autoCAD on campus? I tried the ICThut, and the computer science labs, but couldn't log on to the computers. Said there was some sort of time restriction on my profile. Does this mean engineers can only use these labs after 7 or something?
What are you using autocad for?

Do you realise you can download the student version (effectively a full version) for free?

Yea, first years dont have full access to the huts. you can go during the time allocated for 1e7.

Kernsr are 1st years allowed upstairs in the red brick building?

At 300g your efficiency index is pretty shot..

Although mine is sitting at 297g and has no deck yet.. :-(

deck tends to weight allot. jmccrohan approach of adding reinforcing members to the centre span will pay off diffidence .

Error calculus makes C++ fun!
#include <iostream>
#include <math.h>
using namespace std;

int main () {
double num, muppet_percent;
int num_of_muppets, error;

cout << "How many people are there in your class? ";
cin >> num;
cout << "And what percent, would you think, are muppets? ";
cin >> muppet_percent;
num_of_muppets = (muppet_percent/100)*num;
error = (sqrt(pow(0.05*muppet_percent,2) + pow(0.1*num,2)));
cout << "That means there are " << num_of_muppets
<< " muppets in your class, ± " << error << "." << endl;
return 0;
}

Just a point looking at that, and its relatively insignificant from a "you getting all the marks" point of view, but you're going to have problems thanks to switching between ints and doubles. For instance, say you have 100 people in your class, and you believe 64.5 percent are muppets (seeing as you're allowing integer values). That would mean your num_of_muppets int would be 64 - while the double value would be 64.5 - meaning you've rounded down a muppet. Same thing will happen with your error. Better way to do it is to do the calcuation as a double, find out if its an int value or not, then adjust it accordingly.

Of course, that depends on how you want your calculations to work. And if you even consider this, make sure to comment all this stuff in so the marker doesnt just think you're an idiot. :P

It's correct to round down people though. Anyway, I just did that for a laugh during lunch break, it's not an assignment.

He wouldn't let us go with 301g, we had to shave a bit off the reinforcing members, so now it is 298g.

Worked quite well in the end. Deflected about 1.9mm iirc when 1.5kg was placed in the middle.

Altho i still dunno how it gained 1g overnight..

Assignment 8:
Create a C++ program to calculate the ammount of muppets in Engineering.

i can see it now.
