    Hi,

I've got a Technical Interview next week for a Network Admin job. Its a job I'd like to get, i'm just sick of my current one. I'm just wondering if anyone has sat a tech interview recently and has any advise they'd like to share.

make sure you can answer questions posed by the recruiter on the following

vpn, nat/pat, exchange, server 2003, firewalls, filters, tcp/ip, proxies, dhcp,
dns, secure gateways, sans, backup and recovery, security, group and security
policies, unix/linux (depending on the job), active directory, ghosting, switching and routing to name but a few......

judging by your post you dont have a clue what is involved in a network admin job so you may want to read up on the above list.

most technical interviews will consist of the hr part where they ask all the blah blah blah questions

the technical part will prob be scenario based and you will need to be able to give them a solution to the problem such as :::

what kind of issues would you need to consider when implementing a group policy for users who require secure access to the office network externally

what strategy would you use when implementing a data backup policy for the company and how would you implement such policy

what kind of redundancy could be used to ensure that the companies mail system has 100% uptime

hope this helps somewhat, also you will need to emphasise your ability to multitask and deal with lusers in a professional manner. also organisational skills are a must
