Would you rob a bank if there was absalutley no way you would be caught and no 1 would get hurt. I mean the bank is insured so they don't lose out, and the customers still get their money, or is stealing wrong no matter what(edited)

I'd rob a bank only if it was truly necessary like for example if I needed a new car or my lover wanted a sex change operation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Or give yourself a sex change to hide from the cops.

Apparenly it is common for banks to claim more than was actually stolen from the insurance companies.

whatever happened to honour among thieves?

Apparently its common for everyone to claim for more than was actually stolen in every incident.. its the insurance companies that're robbing us! If there was a bag of notes outside an insurance company's building and 0 chance of me getting caught - damn sure I'd take it! :D Actually if there was a bag of money anywhere I'd take it

*I really am a trustworthy employee

    Where!?

I wouldn't steal from the bank. It's a fcuking idiotic question. If you think about it for a second, when you steal from the bank, you're partially stealing from everyone who has money in that bank in two ways: firstly, it's their money; and secondly, when the insurance company gets a claim from the bank, their insurance premium goes up, which in turn increases bank charges, which we have to pay for.

On an economic level, stealing decreases the value of currency. Money is received without any input to the economy by the earner, so everybody loses. In addition, banks have to reduce the interest rates they pay out (which are already low enough) and increase interest rates on loans such as mortgages. That means less people can afford to buy houses which leads to a huge slump in the housing market as house prices drop to support these poorer people. The fall in house prices leads directly to economic recession.

So, from the moment you steal that money from the bank, you have created a downward economic spiral, an economic black hole, into which you will inevitably fall yourself. Not to mention all of the other people you're anally raping by stealing from the bank.

And personally, I learned my lesson on stealing the same way as monkeyfudge.

    Stealing is bad.

Yeah, but not for the money. I mean, not for the money for myself.

First off, I'd do it to stick it to the MAN (yeah, down with everything) and then I'd distribute the loot amongst various charities/causes that I believe in.

Like a modern-day Robin Hood only more anonymous and less egotististical.

in response to hullaballoos rant there - theres always one with a big conscience!!!
i wouldnt care how high the banks rates went after cuz id be rich ;-) hehheh
sides banks are a joke - basically they ask us to kindly give them our hard earned and promised to mind it for us. In retunr they get to use our money in the meantime to make themselves more money. Fair enough so you would think that they would be rewarding us fo rthe privilage of using our money but instead they feckin charge us for as much as looking at how much we have the thieves. it defies all logic to me

It makes more sense than credit cards, but don't get me started on those...

Yeah, good man. Why do people use them then? The reason is that we couldn't possibly manage to create the same sort of revenue ourselves from the money if it isn't pooled so that some other body (the banks) can invest it. We need them to do this to support our economy. Now, all of the liberals here are going to up and shout anti-capitalist stuff at me, but in reality, the banks are fundamentally communist in nature. All of the peoples money is pooled into a fund which makes us all proportionately richer.

Ironically, I'm listening to Pink Floyd's 'Money' as I type this.

Hmmm...they dont share profits with us do they? I think this was high lighted by record profits in the banks this year...

You have to look at the bigger picture: when banks prosper, they share the wealth by offering higher interest rates on savings and lower repayments on mortgages.

Also, those profits they recorded (and others like them) mean that the post-boom recession in the Irish economy had a soft landing, and meant that none of us have to eat our hats, as it were.
