Come on, how could I not put it up? :p

Look at that guy! FFS! Is this what you're trying to attract? :D

Why does he remind me of one of the guys from East 17???

TBH, a chrome body, string through, tuneomatic bridge (black), black pickup rings, black EMGs, Ebony board, blue neck leds and a chrome head. Cheesy as hell but **** it, I want one!

    You want East 17 :D

    Oh ffs, I give up!

    Ha ha ha

They just don't rock my boat. Sort of like a guitar version of bling, the stringed version of giant soveriegn rings and a souped up Nissan Micra. Is wearing the baseball cap obligatory?

The ones with the corporate logo nonsense are especially ugly IMO

Ya know, thats the exact same way I feel about Gibson, PRS etc...

Paying for a name on the headstock...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Don't knock them until you try them. Real Les Pauls are just wonderful

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Meh, when ya consider a real LP is the same price as a custom shop, you know exactly what I'm gonna go for. The only name I want on a head stock is my own. I like my name.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Yeah but FMIC will sue you if you use that logo ;)

I have no problem with people putting their name on their own product, once it's tastefully done - eg Gibson, PRS, etc

Actually I really like the late 60's big headstock strats which were in fact made bigger by CBS so they could put a bigger Fender logo on it which would show up better on TV

I was pricing up an ESP last night. About $4500 was the cheapest. There's maybe about $700 worth of hardware on it. $3800 for labour and finishing??? **** off.

Ahhhh that explains the foul mood :p

What is it about your custom guitar design that is so different to a production model?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Eh, not much. It was a M shape, neck through maple with alder wings, black finish, ebony fretboard, no markers, EMG's, Floyd Rose, pointed headstock. A pretty simple guitar. Nothing intricate at all. How they can try and charge that amount is beyond me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Is there a production model that is similar that you can finish off yourself?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Eh, the M-II is close enough but the control layout is different and there's fretboard markers. That's not the point though. My point is how they are trying to charge so much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Because people are clearly paying that much. You charge whatever someone will pay. Custom Shop Fenders are about the same $$$ and to think, you could get a mint Les Paul for €1300 :)

Did you see the prices of the Basssurgery link I put up a while back?

Bassurgery? I think I put up a link to that too... Yeah, stupid prices. €1300, same price as a 6 string LGM Leviathan...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Nah, I think the cheapest was stg£7000

just get a J Custom and be done with it ;)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

OK, you loan me €1500 and I will.

You've more chance of finding a custom ESP in a skip :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Hmm. Well, kinda found a bass in one...
