Good afternoon folks. Firstly try not to hang me by my ankles for jumping on this now, but I thought a new one was needed. Some of us are just finishing the last stages of the process, while others have had a long, and sometimes exceptionally long wait on vetting. Whatever your position here is the thread for the next (I hope) intake.

Ultimately there is a drive over 4 years to recruit 3200 Gardai. Assuming this takes place as planned then next year should follow a similar pattern if not the same, to this year. Hopefully those waiting right now for protracted periods of time get November. However for those that do not or still have fitness/ medical to do etc your welcome here.

Chat crap, share rumours and lets try to maintain our overall sanity folks. Best of luck to all of you, and keep your heads in the game ;)

    Mutter Nutter

Maybe I will get Feb all going well, I seem to jinx myself starting all the intake threads and never get in myself, be just over 2 years waiting.

No jinx this time and hopefully I haven't done it to myself. Waiting on vetting is no fun to say the least. Hopefully it's coming to an end though.

Well as I said maybe I'm jumping the gun but if some end up leaving this thread real early then happy days and congratulations. Mean time we will wait and see.

So far anyone else here did the interview quite a long while ago. Mixed bag of campaigns and merit positions. Most if not all share the common thread of waiting on vetting to be complete. Its all ahead of you ;)

Anyone else concerned over the resignation of Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan in relation to their applications? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a delay in signing off the vetting forms :(

I rang HR Friday and my vetting is still outstanding so I'd highly doubt it that I will have any chance of November. I'm low 600s from Sept 2016. Going by the February 2017 intake thread the first round offers were out on the 16th of December and the second round were out on the 22nd.

So I'm really hoping for February now, it would be a nice Christmas present :)

For anyone still waiting to hear on a date for their PCT:

I rang HRM to see if I could get a date for mine but they told me all available places for the test are full until October and they need to wait until the college releases more dates. Looks like another long wait :(

Hi I'm waiting to go into my interview next week. Am I to look at it that I probably won't even make febuary intake. Does the vetting and PCT really take that long.

Has anyone to sit the Irish exam?

Never sat it no and it's one extra thing to do. February I doubt it to be honest. Wouldn't want you getting hopes up. Its unlikely they will start vetting until you have the exam passed and a medical clearance cert from the OHD. Chance of having all that by the end of October. Then you have still the PCT to do and pass and the local interviews.

That along with the various departments involved in checks takes a few months if your lucky. All depends on how much work they have to do on you and your family and more important who if any other security forces they need to speak to around the world. Certain ones who shall remain nameless are beyond all reckoning in how pathetically slow they are to reply to the vetters requests.

But don't be disheartened. Focus on your interview and doing your best there. If you worry about all this crap you might not be as focused as your able to be. Knuckle down and give it your best and you'll get there eventually :)

As in there are no PCTs in October or they are all full?

I will send you a PM soon. I sat the Irish assessment. It's challenging but certainly manageable. I will tell you everything you need to know. First focus on the interview and get through that.

If first round offers will be out this week and second round offers out next week...I would say you will not be in the running for the November intake. You may very well have a good shot for the February intake though just like myself.

Vetting does seem to be holding people up and especially those who have lived abroad awhile or who also have family members living abroad.

Oh I've an aunt in Australia that could slow it down :( .. hopefully I can sort it all soon. Are you praying for February or are you easy either way on what you get? ..
does anyone here know about going from one public service job to another? And what way it works?
