    Apologies, if this has already been posted.

    He has been banned from driving for 20 months and sentenced to a 12-month community order and has been ordered to pay compensation of £4,500 for the damaged bicycle and £1,000 to the injured cyclist and £100 each to the two other cyclists.

    To me it seems like he got off very lightly. He was way over the legal alcohol limit (57 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath versus legal limit of 35), mounted a footpath, hit the cyclist who was fixing his chain and then drove off.

    wow, its incredibly light. Probably a clean record helped and maybe who he is, but it does seem light.

    Gibson (aged 27) was also over the legal drink-drive limit when his vehicle mounted the pavement in Bowdon, Cheshire, and struck the men who had stopped at the roadside to fix a broken bicycle chain…
    Police were called by a concerned garage attendant after Gibson hit a petrol pump and began filling his vehicle with fuel while wearing no shoes.
