    ... social media fakery?

From Reddit: the poster makes a compelling argument

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/3driku/so_it_looks_like_joe_are_resorting_to_buying/

Regarding Joe.ie's new .co.uk Facebook and Youtube channel

Looks like they might be something suspicious going on with their video views on YouTube.

Their high traffic numbers appear to be getting them interviews with music/movie stars. Fair play to them for that, not sure how their traffic is actually that high, 80% of their content is just lifted from Reddit.

Their (very poor) interview with Arnie for the recent Terminator movie had 1000 Youtube views when I first saw it, the next day it still had 1000 views, then all of a sudden it magically got 65,000 views, no slow climb, it happened straight away.

According to Youtube only 7 of their actual subscribers actually clicked play to watch the video.

The video's traffic then dropped to almost zero daily views, even when the movie opened in cinemas world wide on July 2nd, they got few more views, the massive interest in their video just suddenly died.

Could their views have come from their Facebook or Twitter which have1000's of fans? No, I checked and they didn't link to this Youtube video from either source.

Supposedly all this traffic hit their video organically on Youtube for 12 hours then vanished straight away.

For comparison, their current interviews for Ant-man have just 40 views for the director and 57 views for the insanely cool Michael Pena and just over 1000 views for Paul Rudd who plays Ant-Man.

The movie, which should have huge interest is now open 3 days at the global box office and is bringing in more interest with audiences than Terminator. 40 views for videos like this is embarrassingly low. It'll be interesting to see if these videos get a sudden rush of views like their Terminator video in a week or two.

In before the likes of "Joe.ie is sh*te anyway", that's not really the point here. The majority of us know it went from been a good new site to just another click-bait farce.

What Id like is a debate on Facebook/Youtube/Twitter fakery regarding likes and followers etc and what other companies you think (allegedly) do it.

As this video very well explains, there are no shortcuts to gaining a social media following

Im aware the Reddit post doesnt say anything outright about buying Facebook likes, but there's something very suspicious about a new page (the .co.uk one) gaining a million likes in a very short space of time.

Did you not know you can buy Facebook likes and Youtube views?

    Of course.

But are the public aware that Irish companies like Joe are trying to falsely inflate their social media numbers?

I don't normally send people off to reddit, but you've started a thread here based solely on a thread from reddit, with no news source or any sort of discussion material - except the thread from reddit.

I recommend you discuss it there, as a thread, based on some screen shots, is already in place.

    Thanks.
