cycling on a pedestrian bridge

So apparently the cycling forum doesn't allow threads about this sort of thing so I will share this mornings experience with the nice people of AH and ask for your own experiences when it comes to gob****es on bikes.
    Dear gob****e

While walking across the Sean O'Casey bridge (which is for pedestrians btw) this morning at the IFSC you decided that it would be a good idea to go as fast as you could on a bridge with very limited grip when wet and expect people to move out of the way for you.

I honestly don't think the lady with the buggy saw you but even if she did there was no way she could have gotten out of your way on time. Swerving to avoid her was the right thing to do but then turning your head to shout at her was where it all went down hill for you.

As you couldn't see where you were now going you obviously didn't realise you had crossed the width of the bridge and were now heading straight for me, I hope the venti coffee that you ended up wearing as a face mask didn't burn too much and i reckon 7 or 8 stitches should close that gaping cut above your right eye nicely although it will probably leave a pretty nasty scar.

I 'll say this for you though, you do have balls. After nearly wiping out 2 adults and a child (i'm ok btw, small bruise to my arm that i can live with) you then had the cheek to get up and start screaming at me because somehow in your tiny mind it was my fault. You had a camera on your helmet and told me you would be going to the guards and showing them the footage. Please feel free to do this but may i suggest watching it yourself first and seeing if maybe just MAYBE the fault lies with you.

You also claimed if you see me again you will " wrap your bike around my neck". No one was stopping you from doing that this morning so am guessing you were just mouthing off in anger. Anyway you will be glad to know that starbucks gave me a free refill of my coffee and am now nice and warm in work.

If you read this and need my details for the big garda investigation this please feel free to pm me for contact details.

    Have a lovely weekend

    Sincerely

    Timberrrrrrrr

Can confirm, gob****es exist in world. In cars, on bikes, unicycles (fall you f*ck, fall!), and even pedestrians. Sounds like karma bit biker hard in this case. We do have a ranting and raving section around here somewhere.

    So.. Starbucks.

Did you get a ban too OP?

Cycling mods will be stalking you now.

Would still love to hear a good reason why cyclists think they can justify their prickish behaviour by saying they have seen motorists do similar.

On my walk from Eden quay to Smithfield every morning you can guarantee that at O'Connell street, Capel street, or Church street you will have one near miss with them breaking the lights, and that's not even mentioning the ones who think they have free reign to use the path.

I want to know how you got the free refill.

Cyclists are pricks. Drivers are pricks. More often than not, pedestrians are pricks. Nothing to see here. Except a completely disproportionate and unhealthy level of rage!

No ban and fair enough to the mod if that's not allowed then am ok with that. As I say i am a cyclist, pedestrian and a driver and see dickish behaviour from all three but what pissed me off this morning most was the fact the guy thought everyone else was to blame but him.

I presume next time you get a thump you'll got to the boxing forum and start a discussion on all the bad times you got a box and how bad boxers are, or next time someone gets shot you'll got to the shooting forum and start a thread on all the bad instances of guns and how bad shooter are, or the next time you have a car accident you'll go to the motors forum and start a similar thread.

What do you expect to happen? No one in the cycling forum would defend the cyclist in that instance and more to the point why should you expect them to? Why not just start a thread here on all the bad things that happened to you today/yesterday/etc would be just as purposeful.

It is pretty rare to see drivers driving on paths. Mostly in films.

I cycle or drive to work depending on the weather. Yesterday afternoon I almost knocked down a pedestrian who just walked out onto the road in Rathmines in front of my bike, didn't give even bother looking they were too busy on their phone. This morning driving into work I almost got hit by another car in Templeogue, the other driver was half asleep pulling out without indicating or anything.

Stuff happens and stupid people aren't confined to bikes.

It's actually quite common, there are a few places I go past where if there is a single lane going to a filter left, drivers will get 2 wheels up on the footpath, drive over the cycle lane and footpath until they reach the filter lane. They also expect pedestrians on the footpath to stop until they are finished their manouvre.

There is one spot on the corner of Wellmount Road and the Finglas Road where there is a small housing area, rather than waiting in traffic until they can get to the entrance, they will get all 4 wheels up on the path and drive down it to the entrance of the houses along the Wellmount Road footpath.

    in fairness though,

some of the cyclists with go pro cameras are just flutes looking for trouble

    https://www.youtube.com/user/CycleDub/videos

and then this other flute that disables all comments on all videos because he doesn't like to hear how he is wrong

Can you be more specific? I warched one wher a bus driver overtook him very closely (to the point that he had a right to be pissed off) and one where he recorded.... a swan...

Ah, yes. Coffee. Dmaned more important. Any act of apathy or fake outrage is automatically excused if it was explained by the need to get a coffee. Good man!

I think the obvious thing to do here is to have all cyclists shot by firing squad.

and one where a cat ran out in front of him and he nearly let a roar as to give out to the cat.

or the one where he was cycling and the tree hit him on the helmet.... instead of just, you know, moving out of the way :/

I see hundreds of cars parked up with two wheels on the footpath every day. Do they lift the car onto the footpath?

To be honest I think the thread should be unlocked in the cycling forum, its a valid discussion anyway got to respect the Mods decision. Cyclists in some cases feel everyone should move out of the way for them as if they have priority over all other road users and pedestrians which is simply not the case.

A commute to work doesn't have to be a time trial!
