new tv

Hi all just getting the plans together for a games room and am looking for opinions on tvs to play the ps4, plasma or led full hd, will there be a real difference picture wise?
had my eye on argos as they've Toshiba 40L1333 40 Inch Full HD 1080p LED TV for e390 or an LG PA4500 50" HD Ready Plasma TV, Budget for the tv would be around e400ish guys just looking for best bang for my buck budget wise, any help be much appreciated

I'm no TV tech head, but get a Full HD over a HD ready - PS4 deserves full HD.
I picked up a bravia 40" full HD(had a HD ready tv) and the difference is astonishing.

so plasma is the way to go, im also looking it to be a 3d smart tv, 42-48"

any help or opinions appreciated

budget approx 700

not urgent so wondering do i wait for sales? still would like an idea of tv to get.

During the sales you will find some good deals, im also on the lookout for 42-50" and will wait until the sales
Plasma has the best picture quality but costs more to run, LED is cheaper and brighter

There will be plenty choice in the sales if its like last year. Last year a friend got a 47'' LG 3D/smart for 750 in currys. Saved over 400.

Just one thing people may want to consider is the manufacturers warrenty. What i've seen recently is some Panasonics are 5 years, LG 3 years but Samsung is just 1 year.

Supposedly next years range are going to have a lot more 4k TV's.

So that will bring the prices way down on the current stuff.

Still lots of good value out there
Also I'd pick the samsung, in built media players are fantastic.

I have the sony 805 its class paid like 1100 euro in my sony centre 5 year warranty

After much deliberation, I think I am settling with the

SAMSUNG UE46F6500 for approx €799

Must get more glasses and a 5 year warranty.

Any views/advice or bargain/sale alerts would be greatly appreciated.

Hope ye all had a happy Xmas

A mate of mine got that same model for €680 in Powercity only 2 weeks ago. Don't know what it's going for now though.

Has to be full HD whatever actual make and model you get. There's not much point in having a PS3 or PS4 and running it through HD Ready. You won't get the full effect of what's possible in HD movies and games.

From Yahoo Answers:
Both Sky HD and Freesat/Freeview HD broadcast in 720, on a screen size of 32" you're not really gonna notice any difference of 720 or 1080 to be honest. Even if you have a ps3 or other blueray player!
The important things for you is the contrast ratio and/or the hz of the TV try and go for one with 100hz, this will give you a smoother picture, especially while watchin sports!
Some people say that it's not worth going with HD unless you go FULL HD, they dont know what they're speaking about. Full HD is only worth it if you're gonna be watching a HUGE TV, 50" and bigger...

If your looking at a 42" your unlikely to get much benefit from 1080p (Full HD) over HD ready sets unless you around 5-7 feet away , some folks claim to see from further away but the further you are back, the less the difference between full hd sets and hd sets becomes.

My experience of having these panels is down to size, anything below 50" from the likes of panasonic and sony seem to be hard to tell from 720p and 1080p, whereas 50"+ seems to be slightly noticeable. There have been many reports on this forum that 720p pioneer panels give better picture quality than cheaper 1080p panels.

After seeing this model demo'd to me I'm giving it a lot of consideration, woke up this morning set on a Sony, now I'm undecided.....again!

Anyone any input on the panasonics, have come to the conclusion that passive 3d is a must, due to the family size.

I just bought a sony KDL42W653ABU myself. I have my ps3 and ps4 hooked up to it and I'm blown away by the picture quality. Delighted with it.

I was gona order that same model yesterday, but went with a 40" samsung for its praised smart/media features.
Im still alittle worried about the 40ms input delay on the sammy, that sony W653 has a very low amount of input lag in "game mode", something in the teens i think. which is really good.

Anyone played on a display with 40ms input lag ?, how bad is it ?

Your in the same boat I was last week... bit the bullet today and bought an lg 32ln5408 for 259 in argos . Reduced from 429..

was putting it off since before Halloween. . Just go buy one now because when all the new ranged are introduced you will drive yourself even worse
