Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My 2004 Yaris' windscreen washer is not working. I took it to the Toyota dealer for a semi service today and was told that the washer pump was broken. They give me a quote of E180 incl VAT to replace the washer pump. Is it too expensive? And can I bargin with them if it is? Or I just simply take it to other garage? MILLIONS THANKS.

the price of the pump is probably the biggest part of that job. it's changable in 15-20 minutes.

you could price the job at an independent garage, but seeing as the pump itself is probably three quarters of the price of the job and will have to be purchased from toyota anyway you probably wont save that much.

the only way to make a real saving here is to find someone who could possibly source and fit a second hand one.

It's a bigger job than just reaching in through the engine bay. Front bumper can be removed or you have to jack up and remove wheel arch liner to reach it. If so it'd be a 5 min job.
The part is about 20 euro on ebay, rest is labour.

If you're handy you can DIY it but it's not the easiest job.
Of not, shop around. Someone else might do it for less than 100.

My problems are Im not handy and I don't know anyone who can source a cheap part for me. If I take it to a independent garage, can I ask them to source a second hand for me? how much would be reasonable for the labour cost for sourcing the part and fixing it in the car???

if you turn the steering fully left and open the clips on the front half of the wheel arch liner (driver side) and just hold it back its very easily accessable, even with the car on the ground if you don't mind stooping over a bit. half an hours labour at a stretch.

Ring a few places locally and just ask a price.

Type your reg into http://www.micksgarage.com/ and see how much a new part is.

You can see the location in pics here
