The creation and content of this thread has been approved by both Castie and Andip

As you know I have not created meetups in a while, mainly due to the fact that as of late they have not been well attended.
I attribute this to boards not being a dedicated meetup site and also people having busy lives.

With that in mind I have created a group on meetup.com dedicated to meetups as I love meeting new people and this is a site designed for meetups.
This is not to take traffic away from boards at all, but merely to allow me to create more structured (and bigger) meetups.

For anyone interested here is the link:
    http://www.meetup.com/Meetups-in-Cork/
(I set up a similar group in Prague when I was working there which as of yesterday has 912 members)

If you have any questions feel free to reply to this or send me a private message.

Sounds interesting. I always wish I could get to more, but the shift pattern I work means I miss 50% of meet ups straight away :(

I've never been to any meetup and am more of a lurker here. Do everyone else usually know each other?

Some people do know each other,as they have been to other meets in the past.

But a good few would be new people,,so they only get to know people after a meet or two. They are cool, comfortable,,and very well run meets..

Great nights out to be honest.

I would be interested in joining this group. Obviously i won't be able to meetup for a while as i'm fairly busy. Is it based in the city or county?

    Hello everyone! :)

    It is indeed, welcome!

I organised meetups through this site for years but as it is not a dedicated meetup site (meaning attendance would fluctuate a lot) I created "Meetups in Cork" (my other group "Meetups in Prague" has 916 members, the largest meetup group in the Czech Republic !!)

Glad you had fun, can't link your boards name to your real name though ...
Any chance you can tell me your first name (in a private message is fine if you don't want to post it)

One of these days i'll actually attend a meet-up. I'm so socially awkward though :pac: But i need to get out of the house more and bowling does sound like a ton of fun though, so i'll consider it :p

I'd love to go to one of these nights out, but I don't know anyone... Even though I've been a boardsie awhile...
I sure don't get out often enough as my own pals don't go out..!
    Might chance it... ;-)
    Fair play though

All of the above applies. You'll be wondering why you waited...
