    Hi,

A future job for which I've already signed a contract () has decided to relocate from a nice part of the city centre to Eastpoint Business Park for more space/cheaper rent/better building etc.

One of the main reasons I took the job was the location. I loved working in the area during a placement I did with them. So now I'm a bit concerned. From reading about it it seems like a dead, drab, dismal place with it's 1 bar and handful of sandwich shops. It's 10 minutes from the nearest Luas/DART station and you have to get a shuttle bus into it. Even then I don't live near any of those lines so I'd need to get a bus afterwards. Commute will be a nightmare.

Does anyone have experience working here? I'd love to hear your opinions; hopefully I'm wrong about it.

    Thanks

I've worked there. Nice place. Epicenter is pretty chill to start your friday evening with their 4€ for (almost) everything.

Hi OP I've worked there for years now any questions fire away.

I live in the city centre and the park is a 30min walk from there
Clontarf road is the nearest train stop and is a 10mins(max) walk away
Loads of buses stop in Fairview/Clontarf and are also only 10 mins away
Shuttle buses leave from Clontarf Road and the Docklands station and only take a few mins to get there.

There are a few shops doing sambos/convenience stuff during the day for lunch etc but if you're doing shift stuff there's nothing for the night crew.
There's an outdoor market on Wednesday with fresh produce and hot food etc, not very cheap but not extortionate either.

Yes there's only one bar but how often will you be socialising there? Most folks use it as a starting point before hitting town or for short meet ups. It only really gets a good trade on a Friday or last pay day of the month and is empty by 9pm when people move on.

The area around it is great for walks and you'll see loads of people going for runs/jogs in the area for keep fit things.

It isn't the nightmare to get to that many suggest

buy a cheap old bike and use it to get from the CC to EastPoint maybe? You can also get Dublin Bus up to Annesley Bridge and walk over to EastPoint (about 10 mins, same as the Dart station). It is a bit of a drab, windblown spot, was glad to get out of there when I changed jobs.

The shuttle bus goes to IFSC and the O2/Point Luas stop also. It's not a bad location. There are much worse business parks around (park west for example).

My memories of Eastpoint Business Park:

    It's always windy.
There's naff all shops, and most overpriced.
The 'pub' is soulless. Went there once or twice but reluctantly. You're not gonna spend the evening there, so I could never think of a reason not to just go straight to a better pub.
The place gets smelly quite a lot.
    Bugger all parking.
The security on site are little hitlers.
    Rats.

    BUT..

It's not that far from the city centre, which is a major bonus compared to a lot of business parks.
It's easily accessible via the DART.
    It's beside the sea..

Tbh, if I found out I was moving back there (which might happen), I wouldn't be happy, but it wouldn't be the end of the world either.

It has an astroturf pitch where the pub is too, which is handy. Played there a couple of times. For food, you can always order stuff in. Plenty of takeaways service the area.

Thanks for the responses. General consensus is that it's not such a bad place. Think I'll probably commute to Clontarf Rd then get the shuttle. Thanks again
