Kindle Paperwhite rebooting

I got a Kindle Paperwhite before Christmas. Happy days!

Recently though when I switch it on I get the message "Collecting information. May take a min... Will restart when done.. Please wait..." Then if I click on it it usually reboots.

This isn't a fatal problem by any measure, but it's annoying all the same. And I'm afraid that the thing might give up altogether down the line.

Has anyone else come across it, know what it's about, and whether I should go about having it seen to? (I got it as a present so have no idea where it was bought)

    Thanks :)

PS is there a way of resetting the device? Might that help? Without losing stored books, obviously.....
