Gentlest dentist in Limerick?

I had a look on previous posts and the last thread about this was 2 years + so maybe some up to date info would be good.

Here's the thing, the time has come - the toothy-pegs need a clean - and it's been about 3 years (finances + fear).

Anyway I know it's going to hurt whatever happens but would love to find the sweetest, gentlest dentist I can so that it doesn't have to hurt more than necessary. I really hate going to the dentist but can my fellow Boardsies recommend anyone that can make this as pleasant as possible?

Distance is no object really for someone with the ol' magic fingers and if I could get some idea of price as well that would just about be perfect.

Thanking you all in advance :D

I've heard good thing about Paul O'connell in old quarter. Also from personal experience jerome Mullane in Newcastle west is excellent. My wisdom teeth removal was the most pleasant dental experience I've ever had.

I go to Hennessy's Dental Practice up O'Connell Ave (near St Joseph's Church), it's down the steps. The main dentist is Hennessy but ask for the "lady dentist" (there's only 2 in there, I think it's Jacqueline). I'm absolutely terrified of dentists, I'd cry over a check up and she's the best dentist, very gentle and would stop if you asked as well (and I have), also was the only dentist to give me good advice on my hyperdontia. Would highly recommend her.

Hi OP, I would stand over this recommendation as well. She is a very good dentist and really puts you at ease. I was a bad patient for a dentist but I have no worries with this lady.

Haven't made the appointment yet, but looks like it has to be Eamon Noonan - he sounds like a legend. So glad I put this out there, thanks everyone and I'll report back after I've been :)

I have had two wisdom teeth removed by Deirdre Toomey who works with Eamonn Noonan. Eamonn was full the very first day I went to the clinic and so was seen by Deirdre. She is fantastic at her job, really reassuring, and completely sympathetic towards people who are very nervous. My first visit I was a terrified due to a bad experience with a previous dentist. Now I have no problems going to see her. She removed the two wisdom teeth on two seperate visits as she thought taking the two of them at once was too much for me. Making sure you feel as comfortable as possible is her top priority at all time. She even numbs my gums with a gel before she injects them so I feel as little pain as possible. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

A great guy! Was terrified of dentist for 10 years until I went to him. When started going I was a bag of nerves. He allowed me bring in my mp3 player to play music to myself to distract me. Now I could walk in for a filling or what ever as cool as breeze. Dont need music or anything as I trust him. Never hurt me a bit even!

also +1 on Eamonn Noonan in town. Used him once in an emergency at weekend.

I had one wisdom tooth extracted by Dr. Rob Bowe (Bowe Dental Clinic) in Roxboro. I don't remember the cost, which means it was probably pretty reasonable. Also, it seemed very straight forward, so I'd recommend him. I've been back a few times for check ups and the odd filling and I think he's very good.

Since my own dentist retired I've kinda neglected my regular appointments. I might give Noelle Cobbe a try.

  • Registered Users Posts: 249 ✭✭fleabag

Well just to finish the thread I went to Eamon Noonan's clinic and saw Deirdre Toomey who was excellent. Very understanding, said she'd stop whenever I wanted and did a quick, almost painless clean. In and out in about 10 minutes top which is what you want from a dentist.

Thanks to all who recommended dentists and good luck to anyone else - I can now add my recommendation of this clinic! :D

Noelle cobbe is very nice, very friendly and professional. I had a bad experience with Paul O Connell a few years ago and when I complained was rudely dismissed by his secreatary at the time who I believe was also his girlfriend/wife. They definitely put me off going to the dentist for a while!!

Would second Rob Bowe,he had my wisdom tooth out in two twists :) Plus i'm terrified of dentists and he's great, v straight forward and fast too!

Just to give a well deserved mention for Aidan Higgins, he's on O'Connell Avenue, a block or two up from Bobby Byrnes shop!!
I hated the dentist for years but really have no problems going to him!!

Just seeing this now, might be a little late but for what its worth, I had a similar problem earlier on in the year, ended up doing a good bit of research and found a great guy. Robert Wallace, from the Crescent Dental Clinic. He was brilliant, they actually specialise in treating nervous patients. Excellence in sedation or something is their slogan! Good bit more reasonable than other places I checked out too which was a bonus.:) Worth a try next time if anyone has similar situations.
