I might chance Cunego. I like him at around 20/1.

I'd like to see Gadret (AG2R) or frank schleck(RSN) win it but were i a betting man i'd go for Cunego

Also looking through the start list, Garmin have a slot still open... any chance Dan Martin will fill it or is he aiming for cali/the tour?

    :D
I'm ignoring the whole Nico Roche thing and i feel I should note: i 1. have a massive underdog complex and 2. think it would be hilarious if AG2R won a grand tour after all the crap(rightly so i might add) they've been getting since they havent gotten a win this season

    edit: God i love Wikipedia
He has won a race against a horse

Wouldn't surprise me if Dupont and himself make the top 15 but with the less mountainous parcours i can't see a repeat podium place.

With Capecchi and Szmyd working for him Basso really should win. If he times it right and peaks in the last week he will win. Its him or Scarponi anyway.

I've made a league for everyone on www.velogames.com if anyone is interested in making a Fantasy Giro team:

    League Name: Boards league
    League Code: 03221143

I'd say Basso but his form is pretty poor atm. If he can ride into it and not get caught out in the first week or two, he'll win in the last week I'd say. Otherwise, it'll probably be a showdown between Scarponi and Pozzovivo, and potentially Hesjedal challenging with the TTT in there

I'll be supporting team Ireland ... or COLNAGO - CSF INOX to be exact

I see they're registered as an Irish team, but I doubt you see any of them at the Sally Gap.

    I presume this is a business/tax decision?

Cunego at 20-1 seems good value

Cunego 11/8 to finish in the top 10 seems a no brainer, though sometimes it can be all or nothing for some riders on the Grand Tours.

i've joined your league (grimposuers). im hoping it adds something to my enjoyment which is bound to wane as suspect italian diesels battle it out with even more suspect rujanos. thanks for setting it up

Well it's certainly wide open, there's no outstanding favourite, they're all capable of beating each other. There's the obvious Q mark of form for a few of them, Scarponi, Basso, Schleck, Gadret, Rjuano, but others have a bit of form, Pozzovivo, Cunego, Rodriguez, Kreuziger. But a dark horse might be Szmyd, who might be used a bit like Nibali a few years ago, esp if Basso isn't fully fit ! He climbed well in Trentino.
It'll be emotional for Basso, as he first climbed the Stelvio as an 8 year old !!

Is this in response to Stephen Roche's critism about riding behind team cars.

    He'll need it for this:

I don't really mind who wins as long as it not someone from Gianni Savios home for unrepentant cheats. He just creeps me out majorly.

    That is a good bet.

Would he not be asked to work for Scarponi on occasion though?

Kwiatkowski a good e/w bet for tomorrow's prologue at 12/1

    Fantastic!

Might even be a good kit for Drogheda Wheelers "Into the West" Challenge
