Improper Disposal of Polystyrene Insulation

Hi folks. I'm just starting this thread to ask has anyone had alot of polystyrene in their yard/road/neighbourhood from neighbours getting insulation done on their house? Or do you feel it is an important issue? Does anyone think the video i made might be useful....

I did tack on to another thread about polystyrene in an attempt to stimulate discussion on the issue and i added a video that i made, but the thread was closed down by djpbarry the moderator as he felt i was pushing a personal compaign or something. I genuinely thought i should use old threads if theyre relevant, rather than starting a new one.

I just want to let everyone know that i have absolutely nothing to personally gain from trying to highlight this issue. I am strongly in favour of home insulation. I just posted the video to demonstrate the consequences of our actions. Once again, no personal gain, i'm just a concerned citizen that wanted to bring an issue that i feel important, to the fore. I don't have a blog, i don't self promote, i'm anonymous, i won't get any medals.. im jsut a normal bloke that wanted to try to do something good for the environment.

would you not just insist the builders clean it up after them?

Hi cookie monster- that's exctly what im trying to say! :)

But im trying to raise public awareness of the issue, and it takes people to realise that those tiny pieces of white are serious pollutants. It takes people to turn around and say to the buiolder next door- 'OI, can you wrap that in mesh or cut that inside please?'

I'm working on getting this recognised on an EU level, and im getting somewhere. I don't understand the hostility of the moderator on the last thread really. What is boards for after all? What could i possibly have to gain? All i want is this to enter the public consciousness throughout the country and the EU.

have you seen the video cookie monster?

well, i'll link to the last boards thread that was shut down on me- have a look when you can. i'd worry that if I link to the video directly, i'll be banned or something for spamming.

    I've re-opened this for now.

Thread title has been edited to better reflect the topic.

I don't feel it is a problem as I don't see much polystyrene insulation around the place. The only bits floating around here were left about 15 years ago by members of our friendly traveling community who lacked any sort of common decency as well being above the law.

There is plenty of sh1te thrown around the country and towns. Wrappers, cans and bottles are the main items you'd find but not polystyrene insulation

The stuff is almost unrecyclable though. Wish they'd stop using it as a packaging material

Me to Needler. It's slowly being banned round the world it seems.

As regards having it around the place, i feel it's one source of pollution we can control. They're just cutting it in the open and it's blowing everywhere. Not all of them. But theres serious amounts of it getting into waterways where i lve. Not one contractor around my area seems to be curring it in an enclosed area, or indoors. And when you saw this stuff with bandsaw's as they do, it goes everywhere.
