TNTSAT is french tv version of Sky freetoview card. TNTSAT card currently renewing their cards. The new card is 15 euro. This gives you acces to over 20 french tv channels on 19degs east.

I ordered a card from the TNTSAT website using the postcode trick (entering my irish address, but inserting a french postcode) My card arrived in post 8 days later.

    Card can be ordered here:

    http://renouvellementcarte.tntsat.tv/#sc_intcmp=TNTS:ACCUEIL:NAVGAUCHE:MEA

    Channels included;

    http://www.tntsat.tv/L-offre-TNTSAT.htm

Card activates on tuning to TF1 on Tntsat box. Card only works in TNTSAT BOX or receiver with oscam cam.Card also activates on lastest versions of oscam. Trying to figure oscam out. Currently have oscam 1.04 running on duo opening uk free to view channels with sky ftv card. I think i need later version of oscam .Any Help would be appreciated...

Thanks givecredit, do you know how long the card will be active for?
Did you need to phone to activate the card?

How long will they be renewing their cards?

Card activates on tuning into TF1. No phone call required.

Card will be active for 4 years.

I would imaging they will be now renewing on an ongoing basis. The old cards expire after a 4 year period which started to kick in recently.

Oscam is a "softcam". It runs mainly on linux boxes. You can make servers etc but I don't think it exists on patches.

Don't forget the main French terrestrials are now FTA at the following locations:

    TF1 and M6 - 9 east (no need for a Ka LNB!!)

    France 2, 3, 5 & O - 5 west

    ARTE 19 east, 13 east

I won't be renewing my Bis card this year.

How do they know to which country they need to send this card? In which box did you write your country (UK for example)??

Tajkun, Instead of adding different line for each part just put it all in one.

    25 Main St,
    Town
    County
    Country.

25 MAin St, Town, County, Country.

    It turns out fine.

    Best of both worlds

Hiya! Does anyone know if there is a way of receiving TNTSAT without their receivers? Good HD PVR receivers from them are sort of overpriced...

Would be grateful for any advice!

It is basically the French version of Freesat except it is encryped like Tivu in Italy and Saorsat will be in Ireland.

    Thanks Robxxx,

What's OScam though? Never heard of it. I'm not a specialist, haven't followed the advancements of satellite technology for a while...
Also are there any places in here in Ireland where you can get TNT receivers if Linux box will be hard to get working or would I only be able to get them from abroad? Really need French TV since I'm really into learning the language.

    Thanks!

You don't need this card to get french tv channels.

If you point a dish at Atlantic Bird 3 at 5West, you can get a number of french channels free to air.
eg: france 2,3,5,O, LCP, TMC, TV5
See here for a current list http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-5.0W-fta.php

Only need a standard fta receiver.

The card is handier though if you do not have a motorised system. Better selection of channels on 19.2° East.

Agree, but you possibly need a more complex/expensive receiver setup.
ie: linux based stb, need to get oscam working, and handle any changes that tntsat/canalsat make in the future with encryption/cams etc

Oscam doesn't necessarily require a Linux box, it is a multi-platform soft-cam and is very easy to set up. I've a SKY card updating nicely without any issues on my Windows XP HTPC for the last year using a 10 euro omnikey pcsc reader. I've also had success with Phoenix serial smartcard readers. Windows 7 is also verified working (with more recent builds of oscam) although I've not tried it myself.

I'm tempted to get a TNTSAT card to experiment .

Absolutely agree, but you are talking about a htpc now.
My suggestion was purely based on the KISS principle - cheap dish and cheap fta receiver, pointing in the right direction.

As regards oscam running on htpc, thats good to know - would have assumed it would be relative easy to get code working on 386 environment once you have the hardware talking.

Have ordered a card myself, purely to see if I can get it working - never used any card before (not even s*y)
Am interested in getting TF1, mainly for extra french rugby.

To all the others would have got a card, have you had any luck in getting it working, or is it still early days?

I guess the simplest thing to do will be to buy the tnt box... Big advantage of tnt is the fact it works on Astra

P.S. Unfortunately I can't use Atlantic Bird since where my house is I can't point the dish in the correct direction to get it. There's my neighbour's house and a tree in the direction of Atlantic Bird. Tried everything! So Astra or Hotbird are my only possible solutions.
