A flood warning has been issued for this weekend as the weakening tropical storm Tomas approaches Ireland.Winds of up to 100km/h are expected.
Motorists and property owners are being warned of flooding on the eastern and western seaboards.

Forecasters say there is a high-risk of flooding due to an active weather front and as the remnants of Hurricane Tomas heads for the Irish coast.
Met Éireann says it will move across the country on Sunday night and Monday.
It says there is the potential for some severe gales or storm force winds.
Due to the potential for heavy rain coupled with high tides, there is also a risk of flooding across the country. Met Éireann says coastal areas could be most at risk due to high tides.

Dublin City Council has also issued a flooding notice for Dublin this weekend.
Temporary defences against rising waters are being erected.
Local road closures may also be required, the council says, and these will be identified as the high winds near the coast.

Any alerts will be issued through RTÉ broadcasting and online.

Thomas would want to have been the quickest moving storm in history to cross the atlantic in 2 days!!! It still hasn't even properly hit HAITI!!!

As I've mentioned in the other thread, they were probably preparing a bulletin for Tomas's impact on Haiti

It may have been Shary that they were talking about. But even then because its not coming from the normal track i doubt this has much to do with any hurricanes

Which ever way you look it was a very serious mistake on Met Eireanns behalf to issue a warning about hurricane Tomas approaching Ireland, I heard that on the news this morning and thought I was hearing things when they mentioned Tomas.

Michael Fish springs to mind :D:D

It's gone everywhere now, and many have even changed the name to Thomas just to add insult to injury.
