    What the hell did it ricochet off?
    They will put a dent in steel at over a mile with normal rounds.
    If the shell hit him he would be dead

    Isn't the one that goes through the engine block a special AP round?

    I remember in one book, Sniper one, I think it mentioned the 50 cal ammo being colour coded, AP, tracer, and normal. Or something along those lines.
