Impossible Pictures (the makers of Walking With Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Park) are set to start shooting the new series of the popular TV show Primeval in Dublin and Wicklow this coming March. The production is expected to create up to 70 jobs in the Irish film industry.

The show's producer, Tim Bradley, said that “the opportunity to shoot a diverse crop of fabulous urban and rural locations such as castles, sea and coast; the historical Dublin quarter and the unique Irish countryside coupled with drawing on the huge experience of Irish crew and cast alike makes the prospect of filming 'Primeval' in Ireland a fantastic opportunity for us over the next 18 months."

“This is very good news that the UK producers of 'Primeval' have chosen to move the show to Ireland in 2010. This represents a real vote of confidence in the Irish film and television sector, and shows that Ireland continues to compete effectively for foreign business. The film industry continues to provide employment opportunities and this particular series will spend directly on Irish goods and services”, said Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism Martin Cullen TD.

Yippee! Great fun! (Haven't seen it for ages....has it been off the air? Used to be early Sat evenings I think on ITV)

There was talk of axing the show after season two due to ITV's financial woes, but now seasons 3 and 4 have been confirmed and there is also talk of a feature lenght movie.

Primeval was on Sat & Sun - episodes 1 & 2 of series 3. Have had fun location spotting! Grand Canal Dock, Ringsend Power Station (I think) and did I see Player-Wills old factory on the SCR?

Bugger. Watched it on Saturday but totally forgot about the Sunday episode.

you see the old john players factory most of the time. All the inside filming is done there. They have built a huge set in it. It's being used for a few different programs now.
