Anyone have any recommendations for Personal and travel insurance for airsofters?

I want to cover myself in case of injury (or legal action in the event that I injure someone) and cover myself when airsofting abroad (planning on making several trips in the next year). Do most travel insurance policies just cover tourism use, or do they cover running around in a field with welshmen and swedes?

Yeah this crowd does it on a short term basis, roughly £50 for 'gold cover' in Europe for 1 week.
If your doing it all the time you should research on net to see what annual policy covers this and contact a broker too to see if they have any markets.

edit they do annual insurance £160, seen it down the bottom when I went to close page!

Give this crowd a shout. http://www.sportscoverdirect.com/sportsguard/

They let me jump out of perfectly good airplanes, I'm sure they'll sort you out. Airsoft comes under Group 2. https://www.sportscoverdirect.com/action/browse.py/searchsport?product=1 Airsoft falls somewhere between Aerobics.....and American Football. They obviously are unaware of GAA of Hurling!! which would fall under group 20 in my book!

Thats a very good question. Most travel insurance won't cover you for extreme sports like skiing or airsoft. You'd have to find a specific one that covers extreme sports (or tick the box to cover them), but even then I would say it would only cover you for any injuries you may get vs any you may cause to someone else.

If I remember correctly the IAA were talking about getting personal insurance for their members with the possibility of it covering foreign travel to say Berget or that lovely milsim site in the welsh mountains. Hmmmmmm....... milsim in the Welsh mountains..... Niiiiiiiiice :D

Edit - Rats beaten to it! But good info there Iceage

As a wise man once said, READ the f*ckin instructions!

Don't quote me on that, thats the way the story came to me.

Did I just say that? Sorry Chuck,I know that all just looks wrong, I'm sure you'll get what I'm saying though.

We were (are) trying to do that. The thing is in order to negotiate a group deal you need to provide solid numbers. No point in trying to get everyone on a deal if we're all paying the same as we would independantly.

I used SportsCoverDirect last summer for my trip to Berget. Mainly because it was the only place I could find online that offered it.

Last year, their VentureGuard Europe (Zone 1) Group 2 ( airsoft ) Silver Cover - 7day cover: £39.40

VentureGuard is their cover that combine Airsoft specific cover with normal travel insurance to cover the standard things such as cancellation, delays, lost baggage, etc.

I get the impression that annual cover won't be cheap, especially if it's worldwide rather than Europe Zone 1, but it may well be cheaper than cover for several seperate trips if you intend to go to a few international events.

Personally, I wouldn't dream of leaving the country for an event without Airsoft specific cover. Anyone that does is taking an enormous risk.

Their TeamGuard service might be worthwhile for a large group heading to Berget in 2009?
