Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cost of Replacing timing belt in Peugeot 307

    Hi Folks,

    Just wondering do any of you know the average price of a service and timing belt change in a 307, 1.4 HDI.

    I have just been quoted 630-650 by a Peugeot Dealer in Louth.

    My question is do you think that this is a resonable price for the job?

    Mine just went yesterday and I was quoted €1000 +. :mad: - its only 3 years old so i am fighting my case with peugeot. Needless to say i am getting a second quote.:cool:

    What mileage was on it when it went? Peugeot recommend the the 1.4hdi belt & water pump should be done at 100k miles

    Not a bad price froma main dealer. Not every back street machanic can do it as you need a special tool for the job

    Theres a big difference between getting a scheduled tb change done and getting repair work doen after one snaps.

    i had my timing belt for a 97 rover replaced nearly 2 years ago, cost me 550yoyos.

    I went to a good independent guy that specialises in Citroens (but his sign says he does all makes) with a suspension issue a couple of months back (cant think of the name, was recommended on a thread here, he's out on the way to clonee).Anyhoo, I'm due a timeing belt change on my Xantia, he quoted me €220. Cant say fairer than that.

    Absolutely no question about it. Peugeot should pay to fix the engine. Alfa have being making contributions to early belt failures on the twin spark for years.

    He did my wifes car (307 HDI). Is he beside "The County Club" on the Dublin side of Dunshauglin?

    Oh didn't read it right, the timing belt actually snapped!:eek:
    Then I'd say 1000+ is right.

    Resurrecting the thread!!

    2005 Peugot 307 1.4l Petrol

    I had pre-NCT service last weekend where the garage told me I was due a new timing belt. The garage said the replacement was due after 90,000km, the car is currently 110,000km.
    Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this, if it actually needs to be replaced at this mileage. And also if anyone has an idea of a rough price to replace it?

    They haven't given me a quote yet, I have to give them a ring tomorrow to see. But don't trust them 100% as they told me rear brake pads and discs needed replacing but they passed the NCT without me getting them fixed??

    My knowledge of cars is limited so don't want to get ripped off!

    Yes the belt should be replaced makes sense to do it as if it brakes you are looking at a hefty bill to repair the damage it will cause your engine, as for your brake discs and pads just because they passed a brake test doesn't mean they don't need replacing, the brake discs may be below the minum thickness required and the pads similar once the readings are within the limits set by the nct it will pass the test, it doesn't mean that they are perfect, brakes are something that should be maintained regardless its a safety issue. Any way its your choice and life.
