Bridgestone and Warriors Muay Thai Gym Celebrates (Songkran) the Thai New Year

As a way to celebrate the Thai New Year (Songkran) starting on the 13th of April to the 15th, Bridgestones Muay Thai Wayne Byrne and Warriors Gym Andy O Connor and Jonno Bracken were invited to help promote Muay Thai and participate in the new years festivities at the Cornels court Shopping Centre in Dublin hosted by Norman Ruddock of Thai Gold traditional Thai food ingredients.

At the show Wayne was asked to perform a Wai Khru and a Ram Muay dance for the large public audience, also we displayed the art of Muay Thai to the local community who cheered and were delighted to have seen the arts from Thailand.

Paul Kelly (Bridgestone Senior and Head Coach) was away to the people republic of Cork with a troop of fighters from the club to part take in the largest Amateur Thai boxing show ever held in Ireland with a total of 37 bouts on the day with clubs from all over Ireland taking part (hosted by Martin Horgan and his Siam Warriors Gym, Cork as a way to celebrate Songkran)




There was also a traditional Thai band and a large portion of the Thai community came out to celebrate where they gave us water blessings and a great reception indeed.

After the event we ate food together and had a great day, some of the Thai men who attended were ex fighters in their day and commented that they were very surprised at the level of skill and sharp technical ability of Andy and Jonno on show with their sparring and work on the pads, so much so that they were interested in sending their Irish born children to the classes at the Bridgestone Gym or Warriors Gym which ever suited best in regards to travel distance.
