This is my first post so i would like to say hi to all!

Anyway, Im looking to get a H.R Giger style Bio-mech sleeve. Does anyone know what studio or more pacifically artist would be best to approach about this type of work. Located in dublin prefably?

im sure any artist would love to sink their teeth into a giger sleeve, not sure of anywhere that specifies.
You going old school giger or more bio-organic?
john in inkwell possibly, as i said any artist would love a chance to do it

I have approached one studio so far, the guy seemed pretty sycked about doing it so thats always a good thing.

Its kinda old school but not so symetrical, I'm looking for somthing flows a little bit.... if i am making any sense???

Before i google the hell out of it, has John/inkwell got any portfolio's online.

The guy with the head tattoos and the beard in wildcat s.g does all dark imagery and I know he's done some Giger stuff before. I'd go to him if I wanted that kinda stuff.

hhmmm I'd be interested to see this when its done! Not knocking it at all, but I have yet to see a giger tattoo that I think really reflects his artwork and carries the feeling he tries to get across. Anyone else know what I mean?

For bio-mech stuff Giger seems to be the main reference but Guy Aitchison and Aaron Cain turn out amazing original bio-mech.

Yeah thats a pretty wicked looking tat, but the eyes are drooping quite a lot, and she looks seriously strong in the original picture, I dont know if that really comes across here! It's neatly done, but gigers stuff is so powerful because of the tones he gets with the airbrush, that full metallic look really defines his stuff, and I just dont think I've seen a tattoo that really reflects this ya know! Not knocking anyone getting this work, I'm sure it'll come out badass anyway, but I'm a big Giger fan and have yet to see a tattoo of his stuff that really makes me go "wow,****in hell!" ya know what I man!?

That is not a great tat at all. It is hard to pull off a good giger tat, but there have been a few very good ones. I have seen 10 really bad giger tats for every good one I have seen.

Guy Aitchison and Aaron Cain are not very gigeresque due to their use of colour. But they have moved the giger style on to be more suitable for tattoos. Even though Biomech/Bioorg/Geomech can be forgiving tattoos you need a top class artist to give it the depth it needsl, so be very carefull in selecting an artist and make sure the artist has done other giger pieces.

Just found this pic I saved on my pc a few years ago. It is one of the best examples of a Giger piece I have seen.

Savage tattoo.. Truely pulled of Giger, which would be very difficult! Lucky person whoever they are..!

I really like that forarm one! But as I say, the eyes on the other one just droop too much! Plus, gigers, deep dark tones can sometimes just look like a massive black section, where his art retains that depth it will fade in a tattoo as all tattoos do, and that deep and mysterious edge is just lost ya know!

Thats exactly my fear, I dont want to be 1 of the other 9 !!!!

If it's specifically a Giger tattoo you're looking for, then I'd suggest looking up someone that specialises in Giger tattoos. There are a few good artists here that would do you a really good Bio-Mech tattoo no problem, but there is Bio-Mech, and there is Giger. The work of Giger is very dark (both in the overall tone and in shading!) and it often features cannabilistic suggestions (The mouth inside the mouth of the "Alien", or the skulls almost appearing to eat other skulls) and it is also overtly sexual art also, with lots of phallic and vaginal imagery.

I've seen portfolio pieces up on the wall belonging to one of the guys in Wildcat in stephens green. Either Jani or more likely Phil I think. Drop in and ask to see it. I can barely remember it.

I know Mariusz in Snakebite likes doing bio-mech pieces too, but as for a Giger pic, I dunno, it's something would take a lot of research to make sure that you're gonna get exactly what you want

Yep went in to see phil on saturday, and i have gone full circle and dropped the sleeve idea and instead getting a Giger back peice done.!!!!!

The giger peice i choose seems to be a lot more "tattoo friendly than most of his work.

I was already quite weary and aprehensive about the sleeve and a few of you guys had really good comments that confirmed my fears.

At least i still have my left arm completely bare for something else in the future maybe.

    Thanks for the help lads,
