I don't actually have their first album, picked it up many a time in Tower but never actually purchased! - Must get it now on the strength of this album, really good stuff.

Another new release of note is 'Silence' by Monolake. Just got this today in the post and on first listen I am loving it.

Deep Focus - Heavy Metal (Dubstep Remix By TGunn)
This is orginally a Liquid D'nB track with a sample form The Game and it's been remixed by a 17 year old kid from Bath who is unsigned and unknown,he has made barely a handful of tunes before this remix, but Deep Focus realised his potential and sent him the samples for the remix. This is 1 of my favourite tracks now,a true deep and chilled Dubstep tune, enjoy

"Talkin bout they don't need me no more
Cause a mu'****a push that GT
Talkin bout they don't need me no more
    Cause I'm packin heavy metal"

haha, brilliant!! showed up a bit late to that gig and was gutted when i saw AC had already started. turned out to be the most boring gig of the year, but then ended up at convextion djing in some trendy underground place later so it was a redeemed night. saw PDP djing in galway about 2 years ago, one of the best atmospheric techno/house setrs iv witnessed.

the track "waterfalls" on the splendor (why is it on rough trade??) ep is delish.

listening to: paul kalkbrenner- aaron. its become something of a xmas song for me.

Another tune here the lads on here might like, not normally my thing but this one's a cracker. Can anyone tell me what genre this is? I'd call it techno...but I might be wrong.

Yes, it certainly is techno...one of summer 2009's biggest hits infact!

If you are/were into electro house a lot, you will probably find yourself liking more and more techno in future...it's natural progression ;-)

An essential collection of tunes from Anthony Shakir just out on the Rush Hour label.
Detroit producer Anthony "Shake" Shakir is one of the more underrecognized, underappreciated names in American techno. A bedroom producer since 1981, Shake had an important role in helping shape the early Motor City sound associated with artists such as Juan Atkins / Model 500 and Derrick May. He worked with May and Carl Craig as a producer, writer, or engineer on several early tracks on Metroplex, and worked in management and A&R for the label (as well, he's often joked, as being the janitor) during its formative years. His first solo material appeared on Virgin's seminal Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit compilation with 'Sequence 10'. Known as something of a techno purist, Shake has distanced himself from the European scene many of his colleagues have turned to for support (this accounts somewhat for his continuing obscurity), and his music is stylistically closer to second wave artists such as "Mad Mike" Banks and Claude Young — hard, stripped-down tracks which owe equally to techno, electro, hip-hop, and funk. Shake's visibility and reputation have risen in more recent years as a result of his Frictional and Puzzlebox labels, the latter of which he formed in 1996 with fellow Detroit electro / techno producer Keith Tucker (formerly of Aux 88). Releasing a series of records both solo and in combination (usually under the name Da Sampla), Shake and Tucker's Puzzlebox Records has, along with Underground Resistance and Guidance Recordings, become one of the more coveted sources of straight-up, no-bones Detroit techno.

*THIS 35-TRACK, TRIPLE CD BOX SET IS NOT ONLY ONE OF THE MOST PRECIOUS, FORWARD-THINKING COLLECTIONS OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC EVER MADE, IT IS ALSO MAKES IT CLEARER THAN EVER JUST HOW MUCH OF A VISIONARY ANTHONY SHAKE SHAKIR HAS BEEN, PRE-EMPTING SO MANY STRANDS NOT ONLY IN TECHNO AND HOUSE MUSIC, BUT ALSO IN DUBSTEP, BROKEN BEAT, UK/FUNKY AND ALL KINDS OF BASS MUSICS. MISS THIS AT YOUR PERIL* My oh my oh my. Has there been a more anticipated release this year??? What we have here are three CD's and 35 tracks of classic, untouchable, unobtainable, UTTERY IMMENSE tracks from Anthony 'Shake' Shakir from the Frictional vaults - all of them long long long unavailable on any format and even including a previously unreleased track, making for a tally of 35 tracks - every single one an absolute treasure. Shake's influence is irrevocably written through the last 20 years of dance music history. From his earliest roles cutting tape and assisting the earliest productions of Derrick May and Juan Atkins, to managing the office of Metroplex and appearing on the seminal 'Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit' compilation, his integral participation in a major musical movement is hugely respected by those in the know, but criminally underappreciated by nearly everyone else. These 35 tracks go a long way to redress the balance, giving credence to an artist hailed as a massive influence by everyone from Autechre to Smith 'n Hack, T++ to Cooly G. The guy is simply a rhythm master in the truest sense of the word. His beats are crafted with a funky sleight-of-hand and inimitable flex that blatantly comes from his past, splicing inches of tape and manipulating hardware, while also informed by a knowledge of the rhythm mechanics that make up the classic soul, disco, industrial and synth music which coalesced into techno and house around early 80's Detroit and Chicago. Whether it's the filtered jack beats of 'The Floor Filler', the electric gremlins weaved into the disco magic of '...Like A Dream' or the percolatin' trademark 'Frictionalized', Shake sets his own agenda built on masterful sampling and edit techniques. It's this innate understanding, alloyed with the ebullient personality that imbues his tracks with so much melodic character, which makes them fearsomely effective dancefloor tools, and charmingly unique artifacts of a modern black art. A triple CD and digital release will follow in the coming months, but right now this is about the most essential set of tracks you can lay your hands on, finally untethered from logistical wranglings to hopefully influence a new generation of beat makers and breakers in the fields of dubstep, hiphop, post-garage, House and Techno that owe this dude so much.

Wonders will never cease :eek: this is a first, i actually found a minimal/tech house tune i actually like (well some of it is really good)when i heard this i thought "same old formula minimal bleepy sound like most of the tunes" and then after 3 minutes the tune changes to this spacy mellow progressive trancy number, really good, so there ya go,after listening to countless minimal/tech house tracks i finally found one that i like (or at least like some of,i couldn't see this working in a club though):D
