    Hey everyone,
We will be running a Star Trek card game open day at the Victoria Hotel, Cork City on Sunday 11th November 2007 (next Sunday) from 1-6 p.m.. So what’s it all about then?

Star Trek CCG is the second oldest customizable card game in the world, behind the all-conquering Magic: The Gathering. In 2003, the game underwent a facelift and a Second Edition was born. The game itself is easy to learn, cheap to play (older players are generous to newbies :) ) and almost limitless in its possibities (How about Archer and co. vs a Dominion warfleet :p ) (Or maybe a mirror match of Kirk and his crew vs their Mirror Universe counterparts). You will find the game easy to learn even if you have never played a card game in your life!

You can read more about the at www.decipher.com

At the open day, we are going to be giving away a ton of stuff. There will be demos on how to play and everyone that sits down for a demo will get a pre-constructed deck for them and a friend, plus a big bundle of cards…just for taking part. And even better, both decks will come with a free pass for their first tournament.

The tournaments themselves are fun and are held in a relaxed environment. I have to say the players are a great group of people (aged 18-30). Some are Trek fans while others have never even watched an episode! But we all have a laugh, play some great games and enjoy the day.

We regularly hold events in Cork and Limerick, and players regularly travel from Limerick, Cork, Kerry and sometimes further a field to attend the events.

So why not join us for our open day? Free cards, free decks, and we’ll have some boosters to give out too.

Anyone that cannot attend can still pm and i'll send up a few decks their way :)

Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me and I’ll get back to you!

    Tony

Thanks to the peope who showed up for the demo day! The next one will be held on December 2nd in the Lee room at the Victoria Hotel from 1-6. Be sure to drop in for more free goodies.

If anyone has a race (affiliation) that they would like to play as (and keep the deck), ye can pm me and I will build it for you.

    Choose from...

    AFFILIATION (advantages)

Borg (adapt to opponents cards if they use more than once, assimilate opponents cards :D )

Bajoran (discard pile manipulation, resistance tactics)

Cardassians (capture opponents personnel and then torture/interrogate them for gameplay bonuses)

Dominion (battle with the Jem'hadar, Infiltrate your opponents ships for information/sabotage/shenanigans :) )

Federation-TNG (get stronger when faced with problems/dilemmas)

Federation-DS9 (have a darker side-Confessions in Pale Moonlight anyone?)

Federation-Voyager (personnel can play to Voyager directly)

Federation-TOS (Jack of all trades, all personnel have bonus activated in different ways)

Ferengi (Bribe and exploit opponents, playing Dabo ;) )

Klingon (Kill oppoents personnel, destroy ships, usual Klingon stuff)

Romulan (Manipulate opponents deck and hand, counterintelligence)

Starfleet (Archer and crew get lots of bonuese by completing objectives before opponents)

There are lots of smaller affiliations such as Mirror Universe Federation and Starfleet affiliations, as well as Maquis and Terok Nor. And of course you can make an alliance between any 2 affiliations and play with a Federation/Romulan deck or even a Dominion/Ferengi deck. Of course, Borg make no alliances with inferior species :p

Hi Shay, we had 3 brand new players that weekend which was a decent tunout-they took home a Voyager deck, a Bajoran Deck and a TNG deck.

We have another tournament this weekend (Sunday at the Victoria Hotel in Cork 1-6 pm) so hopefully we will get another good turnout.

I have always felt that this would take off in Dublin if someone put their mind to it! I would be delighted to help you out with whatever you need!

Drop me a PM, and we can discuss further. I'll be able to send decks and cards up to you. Do you have any friends interested in learning/playing?

Have you checked the games website?

    Talk soon,
    Tony
