A word of caution about this dept. They must be overworked and very understaffed - I have experienced the following at their hands:

    a. cannot communicate - voicemail (5+), emails (25+) go unanswered till threat of regulator elicits 1 letter.
    b. lost 3 direct debit mandates and at moment it appears another cheque. 1st cheque was eventually presented 1 month after "being lost"

    c. all correspondence they "post" (to different addresses) gets lost and eventually has to be sent by registered post.

I had thought that when these issues started that it was due to summer holidays (July) but now with October upon us the staff haven't materialized and the problems remain unresolved.

The financial regulator won't get involved yet as AIB complaints dept have to investigated, how long that will take is anyone’s guess as they too have an aversion to email.

So if you are one of the lucky AIB customers that have no issues spare a thought for those of us who are less fortunate and can find no way out.

Even with the support of an excellent broker this still continues.

Regards from a graying frustrated AIB customer

    Eoin

I suggest you try and speak to AIB's Customer Care unit (01-6600311 and ask to speak to them directly). Normally, pressure from them is enough to get the wind up most of AIB's departments

Let us know how you get on.
Most people forget to post what happens in the end, but it should be interesting to hear what the final 'official 'response is.
Never heard anyone send 25 emails to a huge financial player like AIB, and not get any response, so I'd be interested to hear what the response is.

I have now written to the head of AIB customer services dept. Strangely after posting this here / askaboutmoney / a blog / faxing letter I get a response!! I honestly think that this is down to one person in AIB, but others in AIB cc'ed on communication also seemed powerless to act.

I am waiting to see if everything is done as agreed, will keep you up to date.
