    Hi,
    Is there anyone here who has done/doing this course or knows someone who has. I am giving serious consideration to applying for it but I would like to know how it is perceived when looking for work afterwards and what kind of roles people typically get into.

    I was thinking of doing this myself but decided against it.

    I think a rough idea of the roles people work in after can be gotten from the subjects taught. They include investment analysis (equity/bonds etc.), fund management, risk management in banks, corporate treasury, the list goes on...

    Don't know about you but I think it and its UCD equivalent (MBS in Finance) are a bit too broad in nature.

    I'm aiming to do the MSc in Risk Management instead, although it won't be for a few years yet. It's more focused which is what I'm after myself.

    Hey handpass, a couple of my mates do the MSc in Capital Markets. I was considering doing it as well myself, as I'm just finishing undergrad in Business and Finance here in DCU. As regards the course, its relatively new. I think this September will be the 3rd year of it's existence. It has been built on the well respected MSc in Investment and Treasury, which has been around for about 10 years or so. Capital Markets is designed for people coming straight out of undergrad who want to specialise in Finance, whereas the Invest+Treasury us 2yr part-time for professionals who have industry experience. I have many of the lecturers this year who lecture on the Masters course, and I have to say that they're all top-notch. As regards job prospects, a lot of the class have got work with investment banks in London, and in trading houses here in Dublin.
    I was also looking at doing the MBS in Finance over in Smurfit, but got some negative reports regarding job prospects and the level of group work that's involved. It's a bit too general from what I hear.
    The Msc in DCU is regarded as being a lot more quantitative in that it's a Masters of Science, whereas the MBS is a Masters of Business Studies.

    The Capital market" just refers to any of the public exchanges where capital securities (ie, stocks and bonds) are traded. The dissertation on capital marketing is the best method for your information seeking. Capital Market is one of the significant aspect of every financial market.The Capital market can be classified into primary and secondary markets. So that's just a generic term... Like the money market capital market is also very important. It plays a significant role in the national economy. A developed, dynamic and vibrant capital market can immensely contribute for speedy economic growth and development.
