Simple premise - if you were to make up a mixtape of your ten favourite Hip-Hop tracks, what would be on it?Don't just give a list, explain the list a little as well.

    AZ - Rather Unique.
    Raekwon - Verbal Intercourse.
    Outkast - Crumblin' Erb.
    Nas - Halftime.
    Cormega - The Saga (Remix).
Blackstar - Thieves In The Night.
Pete Rock And CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y.
    GZA - Cold World
Common - Nag Champa(Afrodisiac For The World).
Mobb Deep - Shook Ones(Part Two).

Basically, Rather Unique is my favourite piece of music of all time.AZ's delivery is amazing and with a perfect hook and beat by Pete Rock the track has an incredible vibe to it.Nas' very best verses are on Verbal Intercourse and Halftime imo, and I don't think there are three more incredible tracks lyrically then Halftime, Thieves In The Night and Cold World.Alot of people wouldn't have heard the Mega track, but the piano at the start is jaw dropping.T.R.O.Y. and Shook Ones are legendary and don't need an explanation.

Mobb Deep - Shook Ones(Part Two).

Im waiting for the explanation

In no particular order (and likely to change some once ive made it)

Biggie Smalls- Juicy. The classic "we made it" anthem.
Tupac- Cant C Me. Amazing production, real "**** you" lyrics, unbelieveably most fans completely overlook what in my view was his best track, both lyrically and production wise
Snoop Dogg- Gin and Juice. Summer of 2004. 17 years old. My oul one away in England. And a house party that is still talked of to this day :) Every lyric and video scene from "two in the mornin and the partys still jumpin cos my momma aint home" onwards is pretty much a word by word account of the night :D
Dre and Snoop- G Thang. Summer driving music :)

Ah I cant be arsed typing 10 right now:)

    Hmm.. In no order.

I changed my mind - Quannum
    Final frontier - RJD2
    Shallow Days - Blackalicious
Concrete Schoolyard - J5.. My first introduction to hip hop really.
You got me - The Roots
MC's Act like they dont know - KRS One.
    Full Clip - Gangstarr.
    Lickupon - MF Doom
Runnin' - The Pharcyde. Dilla's production is beautiful on this track.

I'm not going to add a tenth yet. I I'll think about it and post later.

This is tough alright. i could edit it later, but we'll give it a go.

Canibus-Poet Loureate ll..One of the most poetic songs ever imo.
J Live-Epilogue..One of my fave emcee's, can relate to it.
Cunninlynguists-Seasons..The perfect evolution of hip hop.
Del/Deltron 3030-Madness.."people take pride in what they have no hand in", beautiful chorus.
The Last Emperor-One Life..fantastic mix between philosophical and physical meaning of death, the fact it was Poetic's last verse adds to it.
    Gangstarr-Mass Appeal..classic-"I hate them motherf*ckin posers".
O.C-Born 2 Live..Great beat, reminds me of childhood times(without the violence).
    Common-Chapter 13..love the idea, the beat,"Just call me E, cause i equal MC's squared".
    Redman-Cant Wait..so many comedy quotables,fun track.
Saul Williams-Wine..if your looking to find meaning in your life<.
Ghostface-All That I Got Is You..still one of the only songs to mbring a tear to my eye.

Happy enough with this, think i gotta nice mix between various styles of hip hop-runners up would include Shook Ones pt.ll, When I Be on the Mic, ATLiens, Respiration, My Block(Scarface)

Sounds familar, was this not released or what?Nas' unreleased work is practically as good as the stuff he put out post IWW. :(

Some suprisingly excellent lists.Better Tomorrow was always one of the Wu's most overlooked tracks. The G-Unit fans musn't have heard ten tracks that 50 didn't make...:p

In no particular order and subject to change hourly...

    01. Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph [Wu-Tang Forver] -- One of the great posse cuts of all time. Inspectah Deck's verse is unreal, possibly my favourite verse ever.

    02. Mr. Lif - Live From the Plantation [I Phantom] -- Smart lyrics. Good beat. Great delivery.

    03. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) [Mecca & The Soul Brother] -- No explantation required.

    04. Masta Ace - Take A Walk [Disposable Arts] -- First Masta Ace track I really remember hearing. Always stuck with me, great delivery and lyrics from Ace as usual.

    05. The Roots - What They Do [Illadelph Halflife] -- Black Thought on point, production amazing. Laid back vibe with relevant message to the lyrics (perhaps more relevant now than when it was written).

    06. The Pharcyde - Passin' Me By [Bizarre Ryde II The Pharcyde] -- Underrated and a really great track that I think many people have missed.

    07. Nas - It Aint Hard To Tell [Illmatic] -- Favourite track off Illmatic, favourite Nas track.

    08. Eric B. & Rakim - I Know You Got Soul [Paid In Full] -- Just a classic, like T.R.O.Y. no explanation required.

    09. OutKast - Rosa Parks [Aquemini] -- Great track. From an album that showed OutKast were one of the most innovative duos in Hip-Hop. Unfortunately it's all gone a bit downhill since.

    10. A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario Feat. Leaders of the New School [The Low End Theory] -- Nearly merits a place off of Busta Rhymes' performance alone. He stole the song imo, which was tough to do because there isn't a weak verse on this track.

    In No Particular Order

Jay Z - Feelin It (far from the best cut from jigga's first release, but for some reason it always stood out for me)

Slum Village - Raise It Up (dilla's original production on this one done it for me)

Wu Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck (my favourite cut from the wu's opus)

Common - The 6th Sense (one of my favourite premo beats)

A Tribe Called Quest - Once Again (dilla's production sealed it for me again)

Method Man - Release Your Delf ("when i first stepped on the scene............." just loved how mef flipped the diana ross hook for this one)

Outkast - ATLiens ("me & u" got everybody talkin but this is the track that made me a big fan)

Pete Rock & CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y (just might be the best produced hip hop track of all time)

The Pharcyde (more top notch production and the video was bananas)

Nas - Nas Is Like (premo, premo, premo)

In fairness, I probably got the name wrong. It's the second last track on Stillmatic, I think. It was the kicker imo.

If you stroke that chin any more you will give yourself a rash.;)

50 is not Biggie or Nas, but christ, there are two dozen other big money making artists out there with more brainless tunes than he does. The more successful, the more contempt. 50 is certainly repetitive, but its better than ****ing Cam`ron and the dip****s.

A.L. - Lyrics - On an album of great MCs this stands out as the best track by far. Great beat, great lyrics, great flow
Mos Def (ft Talib Kweli) - Know That - My Fave track from one of my fave albums ever. Love the opening, love the beat, both MCs on top form
KRS-One - Still Spittin - KRS has alot of classics as a solo artist as well as with BDP. This song is from one of his most recent albums and is an absolute banger!!!
A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario (Remix) - As mentioned previously, it would almost be worth it for Busta's verse alone. A classic track!
The Roots - What They Do - It's tough to pick a roots track but this is the one that tuned me on to them so it always sticks in my mind
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y. - Don't think I need to say anything here
Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt II - Very tough choice when it comes to Mobb Deep's early stuff. Pity they turned to sh1te
Eric B & Rakim - Paid In Full - I prefer the more laid back vibe to this track over "I Know You Got Soul"
OutKast - ATliens - Another classic from another classic album. Its almost impossible to pick a favourite from outkasts 1st three albums
The Pharcyde - Passin Me By - Again the best track on their best album.
