I strongly believe Thomas Davis are putting the future of GAA in trouble! The Irish government have said they will pull out of all Gaa funding IF Thomas Davis don’t pull out of court against Shamrock Rovers for the right to play in there Tallaght stadium!

I'm from tallaght and generally sympathetic to Rovers fans. Mainly because the current stadium is an eyesore and I would love to see it developed, but also I believe that GAA have recieved their fair share of investment. Thomas Davis insistence on using the stadium, is also with all the other GAA teams in the area. However I dont think investment into the GAA is in any danger over this courtcase.

Thomas Davis are taking this to courting knowing they are gona lose in hope that Shamrock Rovers go out of business before they ever get to Tallaght. They fear Rovers being in Tallaght coz there a HUGE treat to there "business".

I dont think anyone would ever go to court to lose. Because then you must cover the costs of the successful party. In fairness I think the GAA have a very strong case, as the land was actually given by the church to Old Bawn community school which was taken back by the Council and then given to Rovers who for a lot of reasons have been doing their best to put themselves out of business (poor results, financial problems, cooking books etc). however saying that I hope Rovers and South Dublin CC can get this stadium finished for once.

It would be fantastic to see this stadium finished, it is a shame to see it just sitting there being wasted. I hope that either between them or individually rovers get it sorted. The GAA clubs will bring immence funding as clubs always manage to raise amazing ammounts of money, Davis' is a case in point

Not to mention the crowd trouble.

Lol. typical Mickey Mouse (Eircom) league fan, how illiterate are you?! It's because people like you are the only ones who care about Shamrock Rovers (I'd barely even heard of them before Davis's gave those pikeys publicity) tht they're nobodies in the world of Irish sporting clubs, and even though my own club are local rivals of Davis's I wish them all the best in court

can someone please block him, for the love of god how stupid is that post. Imagen the goverment turned around tommorrow and pulled all the funding this could never happen as the gaa is embeded in the core of our soceity. people have pride in there local club. something rovers know nothing about. How many homes have they had? Are they from tallaght?

To say they will take thomas davis's business away is equally as silly. have you seen the set up they have an all weater floodlight pitch that is second to onone in ireland. They actually do something for the good of the community with there summer camps that cater for hundreds of kids. They also have a set up in all the local primart schools.

And also i would like you to notice that its not opnly thomas davis that are taking this action.

What were the bohs fans chanting at the end of the last match "there's only one thomas davis" "there's only one thomas davis" "there's only one thomas davis"

Lads no need to fight ignorance with ignorance, you will be bet by Fanfans greater experience. FF Rovers commenced building that stadium about 7 years ago, then ran out of money, then got themselves relegated. The stadium is now overgrown with weeds and an eyesore. There has been no work done on it in a few years, and it has never been used, but is already overgrown with weeds. What exactly are you blaming Thomas Davis for here? The fact that Rovers could not manage a p-*up in a brewery?

Personally I am a soccer and GAA fan, and was intending to buy a season ticket when Rovers moved up to that ground as were several others I know, because it is only a 20 min walk from my house. Now I am not so sure I want to get involved in supporting a club that cant run itself in a reasonable manner. I think Rovers stuffing the building of that stadium up has cost them alot of fans and they have lost any momentum they may have had when they announced plans for their new stadium. To blame Thomas Davis for their current state is both ignorant and churlish.

Andy, they are not nobodys, they are the most successful club historically in the Eircom League with more FAI Cup wins than any other club.

I know this waylander, sorry if I offended yourself or any genuine sporting fans out there, don't mean to be ignorant- I just can't stand "supporters" like this poster. I am not a fan of the Eircom league in any case, but perhaps my views on it have become clouded by the fact that most supporters I meet of Irish clubs are as ignorant, illiterate and have the same lack of eloquence as fanfan. I realise from your posts that this is not the case for yourself so I apologise for this generalisation.

Andy you quite simply don’t have a clue what you talking about! Rovers have no passion ha ha get life you fool! There the most passionate supporters in Ireland! Rovers support there team week in week out were unlike Dublin Gaa fans support there team when the big games come around they don’t even go to support them in the league ha ha!! Rovers are nobodys....well infact they are the biggest brand name in Irish sport! FACT!
Now to Anxious to you ya fool why block me just because I know wot im talking and MOST people out there are clueless like you! If you cared to look into Shamrock Rovers you would know that they also have top class training pitches in Killtipper in Tallaght also have a scholarship scheme with the college Tallaght IT! Shamrock Rovers will also be touring the schools in Tallaght with the First Divison title in the next few weeks so ALL of wot you said about Thomas Davis being so great Rovers have done to! If you read Paul Hylands article in the Evening Hearld yesterday you might actually find out something about the history of the court case Anxious instead of jumping the gun with stupid comments!!
Also to your comment: "And also i would like you to notice that its not only thomas davis that are taking this action.
What were the bohs fans chanting at the end of the last match "there's only one thomas davis" "there's only one thomas davis" "there's only one thomas davis"

WTF has Bohs fans chanting got to do with court action being taken!?!?

One last question is do you think my local team St Kevins Fc should be allowed to march down to Parnell Park and demand to play soccer there because some of the money came from government grants! I don’t think some people realize the SDCC are going to pay the rest of the funds to finish the stadium but ONLY if its for soccer only. So we have the money there to finish so why should TD get in our stadium!
