Ok, I start a new thread for this.

Why don't we W114/W115 driver arrange a meeting? I think that would be great fun.

So far i read about these guys/cars:

    Tony (tc20), W114, 230.6, 1972
    Benjamin (MercManBen), W114, 230.6, 1969, W114 Coupe, 230.6 (?), 1970
    ... (3ps), W115, 220D, 1972
    Andreas (andreas_220d), W114, 220D, 1970
Andrea (not here on boards), W115, 240D, 1975

I've seen some more W114/W115 but don't know who owns them or whether they read here.

    So, what do you think?

    Andreas

Why dont you guys come to the Mercedes Club meeting, first Wednesday each month at Keilys Pub Deerpark Road, Mount Merrion. Next one is tomorrow week Wednesday 4th October !!

You are all very welcome ! :)

Andreas... you can edit and put my name in... Paul. "3ps" obviously stands for "three pointed star" :-)

I'm on for a meet of any type.
What's the timing for Mount Merrion?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,418 ✭✭✭tc20

    ....is 8pm IIRC.
Cant guarantee i'll be there, tho i'll try. We're off on hols on monday week and there's a load of stuff im trying to get done to the house in the meantime,
tho' the prospect of seeing a line up of 114/115 is enticing. unfortunately mines off the road for a while. In the meantime im driving my dads old cinquecento - i know, i know, ive got no motoring shame :o .. I'll tell ya tho, they're ideal nippy little city cars and . . nah, i dont buy it either..

MercMad - is that you Ben C? i was gonna suggest if any of the guys here are members of the MB club, and if not, alert them to the benefits.

    Tony

    ................yep !!

    Small world !

All Merc drivers are welcome, its first Wed. every month 8pm onwards and we either stay in the carpark and chat/look or go in for a cuppa, depending on the temperature !

Its all very casual, sometimes there are great cars there (300SL roadster ) sometimes its quiet !

Any possible future members can take a free Gazette to whet their appetite !

BTW I didn't mean to hijack this idea, if a seperate W114/115 meeting is arranged I'd like to tag along to that too !

    Hi Ben,

I knew you had the SL, but didnt know about the silver coupe til i saw your pics. Is that a recent acquisition ex-UK? She's gooooorgeous.
I'll try and make it for next wed, tho' as i mentioned earlier with regard to what im driving at the mo, i might have to park round the corner and walk to Kielys :D

    Tony

I currently have a certain W123 estate and W107 280 SLC, both on original Irish plates. If there's a meetup of W115s I'd be interested if location suits.

Can someone (Ben?) sell me the benefits of being in the Merc club? I've had several old Mercedes' for years but never got involved in the club. If it's not too Dublin based could be interesting.

I'll most probably head to Kielys on the 4th but I am interested in a specific W114/115 meetup too.

The Mercedes Benz Club in Ireland

The Mercedes Benz Club, is a Worldwide Club and was first established in the UK in 1952. We are the only such Club officially recognised by Daimler Chrysler and the Club is listed on the factory website. The Club’s presence has grown annually and the total Worldwide membership is now over 10,000 with over 200 of these members based in Ireland.
The Clubs presence in Northern Ireland is well established, through the consistent hard work of Trevor Mitchell, and we now have established two additional Regions in Leinster and Munster, served by Ben Cosgrave and James Lavelle respectively. We hope to establish another contact for the Connacht area during 2006.
Each of these Regions hold various events on a regular basis, from monthly informal “Pub Meets” to Sunday Lunch outings and Road Runs. We will also be attending the various Car Shows throughout the Country and welcome any enquiries at such events.
The Mercedes Benz Club is a “marque” club and not merely a Classic car Club and as such we are delighted to hear from anybody who owns or has an interest in Mercedes Benz vehicles. The Club offers a huge wealth of Technical Literature and Technical Helplines are available for all vehicles from the various Club experts.
Each month members receive a copy of our Award Winning Gazette, in full colour, filled with helpful information such as specialist parts suppliers, expert repair centres, “Cars for Sale” and “Parts for Sale” sections. There are also numerous detailed articles on upcoming New Models, Members Cars, Restoration Stories and archive material mostly submitted by members. We also have a full International Diary of Events, an on-line Webshop and our Website (www.mercedes-benz-club.co.uk) boasts a valuable interactive on-line forum.

i'm pretty certain i'll make Kielys next wed, and would also be on for a 114/115
meet, tho wont be able to do that for awhile - cars awaiting parts, and im off on holliers. Hopefully the parts will get in just before im off, so the car will be ready when i return (end october)

    Ben, you shameless plugger :D

    Tony

  • Registered Users Posts: 281 ✭✭andreas_220D

A weekend probably suits everybody most, thus i suggest to meet by the end of October, 21st or 28th. Andrea's car should have arrived then, Tony's one's hopefully back on the road.

Anyone who's interested to meet then please let me know so that we can arrange everything.

BTW, not only W114/115s are welcome ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 723 ✭✭✭3ps

    sounds like a plan.

    Ben, you shameless plugger

I'll deffo go to the meeting !

Can I suggest a venue .................what about the Phoenix park ( under the tree :D ) .........its central, large and good for a group photo. I may put the photo in our Club Gazette if nobody objects !

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,269 ✭✭✭MercMad

Yeah why not pick a date mid November, before the Christmas crazy period arrives, and just stick to that. A month should be enough for everyone to sort out their foibles !

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,418 ✭✭✭tc20

    Hello All,

I only stumbeled accross this thread today and i didnt know there was an active W114 Mercedes scene, Anyway the main purpose for my post is that i am looking for a W114 / W115 simular to John's 230.4 W115 listed above. I am looking for an original Irish car on Irish plates .saloon ,i am not too fussy about the engine size , I will consider any body condition .

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭shawnee

I saw one of the very few original Irish 114 series , 230 I think, black and very clean at ob's classics in Carrigaline recently. However be prepared to break your piggy bank if you want this one. I am not certain of the price but it is certainly 5 figures.

I had a good search over the christmas and it is proving hard to find an original W114/W115 here in Ireland, I think i will have to swallow my pride and import one and put it on ZV plates,If anybody out there knows about any of these cars for sale abroad or in Ireland or even where to look it would be appreciated. On the subject of ZV plates what are the fellow members views ?.
Some people prefer 75DXXX AND SOME ZVXXX. I believe the plates are up to 5 digits now so they look too compact on an old style number plate .

They new 5 digit plates are wrong,i hate them personally as they dont look anyway in keeping with the old registrations in this country,if i have to chose its 75XX1234.You can still get 4 digit ZVs in dublin i believe, but theres around 1000 left.
    12.jpg
I know where theres one of these on original irish plates, its not for sale though. And hes just finishing restoring one for a friend of his thats an irish car too.
Also while on the subject, the same guy has one of these 123s in mint condition/low mileage on irish plates too..
    mercedes_200_w123.jpg
Also not for sale,as its 30 this year it will be on the cheap tax and he intends to get some use out of it!:D
Keep looking, they are out there alright, irish stuff is always that bit harder to find, but i think its worth having.
