Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Excellent news about Adam being back over, been itching to meet him for ages now but he's too busy actually doing his comics to talk to me these days. Git. ;)

Massive kudos for arranging this, by the way. It's not a challenge many would feel like taking on.

It's a lot of work but i'm really looking forward to putting it on.

Also folks, we just got word of a potential new guest.

millarworld.tv has to be the maddest feckin website ever. i've tried to register for it at least 5 times and i never got the validation form back. then today i finally got the validation mail and when i sort it all out and try to log in it tells me that theres no user by that name. Argh Fùck

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 11,076 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

I've registered there twice, once with my name and once with this nick. I didnt get the form back with the nick, and I've forgotten the password for the account I managed to actually set up. It's probably a good thing, I'd lose all my free time on there otherwise...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

yeah, it doesnt mail you your username and password which is hugely annoying

I'm finding it hard to find out anything about the Con at the website. Lots about Lucid Interactive, but not much about the Con ;)

Site will be up soon seemingly

It turns out I'll be in New Zealand for work on the 25th! I was looking forward to maybe getting Ultimates #10 signed. That issue will go down as history as the comic that cemented the fact that Hawkeye was the most bad-ass bastard ever. With or without fingernails.

Oh, I already sent an e-mail for a table, but didn't catch a reply yet... I need one so badly, I must find out how much it costs to have one...

if you sent an email i reckon the table is booked. Ring him if you can

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 TAFKASS

yeah, might do that... Or go to his shop directly.
Does he actually run it? or does he just own it? Don't live too far from Temple Bar.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

he runs it. I think he is away for the next week though. best bet is to ring em and check or leave it till next weekend

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 TAFKASS

you mean he wouldn't be in today or tomorrow?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

dont think so, could be wrong though so maybe pop in. As far as i know hes gone away for a few days

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 TAFKASS

ok, thanks for the info :)
by the way, have you got a table there? could you tell me hoe much it costs to have one?

Well I'm all for getting a posse together to kick Mark Millar's ass for the following atrocities...

    Robo-Hunter
    2000ad Summer offensive,
the worst EVER Judge dredd scripts.

    Yes, I do bear grudges.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

    robo hunter was great

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 11,076 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

Was never that huge a follower of 200AD or judge dredd so I have to admit that what little I saw of the Summer Offensive and Big Dave made me laugh. But your "Kick Millar's Ass" posse will have to wait until I've gotten him to sign my printout of the Nextwave #11 cover (and possibly pose for a photo while licking a goat)...

It sure was, when written by wagner and grant. But then some idiot handed it over to Mark Millar and eventually Pete Hogan. I understand how muslims get freaked out by comics they don't like :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Who wrote the one in the jungle where they reprogrammed the baby to kill Slade? The dude in the airproof suit was in it. That was great.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 11,076 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

Figured this should get a bump, plus I was dead impressed to see the flyers in the window of the first comic shop I found in London! Need to find out whether I'll still be getting a lift up from a certain marker-pen-addict or not, and whether we'll be entering the quiz on the Friday...

I'm stuck in kilkenny until 6 on the firday so not sure if i'll be make the quiz but whats the story on saturday with you guys - are you headin straight back down to cork after the con - is there any offical thing con wise on the saturday night?? I can't really do anything about a comic jam during the con as I've got a table i gotta keep an eye on but was thinking if theres nothing already planned people might be up for pub and jam comics after the con.....thoughts???

also ive got floor space and an air bed if anyone needs somewhere to crash that weekend - sadly my very uncomfortable couch has been broken so i cannot offer that :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭the Shades

I'm up for the jam, kinda my main reason for going to the con. During or after I don't care just give me a sharp pencil/pen and paper and let me fly! Might do something with monkeys this time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 112 ✭✭thumbninja

flying monkees.. sweeeeet.. never look at davy jones in the same way again.

can't make long after the con (bros 21st). But will be bouncing around at the quiz. sooo you can all feel free to say hello and buy me baileys *hint* *hint*

Anyone got any idea how many people will be at this thing? Or is there a programme of events or anything? There's a few of us coming from Cork for it, really looking forward to it!

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 11,076 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

No idea, but it looks like it's gonna be fairly popular by the amount of discussion of it - plus it's being promoted in comic shops in the UK as well as Ireland so I can see quite a crowd turning up.

*me ponders trying to organise some sort of Irish webcomic table for the next con*

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 4,726 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tree

the pen marker addict will be supplying matchbox sized transport again. though i think addict is a bit too strong a word.... not as strong as those pens though :D
give me a yell during the week to organise ****e

myself and the ginger are heading to a gig sat night but we'll be out and about after it, and defo out for the long haul on friday, wish us luck finding our way back to our friends gaff :)

i think i'll have to throw jack off the team though, can't have TWO gingers crampin mah style

does anyone know the exact details of teh quiz? i barely know where the con will be

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 11,076 Mod ✭✭✭✭Fysh

According to this, it's "upstairs in the Bull and Castle Pub at Christchurch". Now, don't expect me to do anything helpful like tell you how to get there, I'm a known pleb when it comes to finding places and revel both in my ignorance and in causing stress for people by annoying them with demands that they take me to the places I want to get to.

    :D

(Looking forward to the drive up on Friday yet? Mwhahahaha...)

Oh oh ! I know where that pup is! ...oh ... wait.. no that was a different pup... ah well.

Well I'm driving up tomorrow... All on my ownio... *sniff*

And I won't kick anyone off a team... So I'll just not participate...
I'm not good at the whole 'quiz' thing... unless there is a prize for worst answers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,294 ✭✭✭Jack B. Badd

Sod it, Shell, we'll just make our own team. A team comprising totally of gingers! It'll be you, me and...um.
