DVD Recorder for €200

I was in Argos today and noticed they are selling a Liteon DVD Recorder for €199.??. It uses DVD- and + R and RW. Is it any good?

is it standalone or is it for a pc?
liton are usually pc gear makers.
if its for a pc its a slight shot off being a bargain...

just checked the argos.co.uk site and turns out its a standalone. Correct me if i'm wrong but don't liteon make very good kit?

This is a great bargain .
Liteon make superb optical units ,they manufacture Sony's OEM drives.
I'm gonna pick one up for that price

yeah looks like a decent recorder
has a firewire port for connecting your camcorder
good price
if your up the north get one for 119 sterling thats only 180 euros

same one as in the Curry's mini brochure in today's Indo?
MODEL LVW5001B.
Curry's have it for "Half price" from 459.99 to 229.99.
Dearer than Argos!

Just noticed it's a different model.
the one in Curry's is only DVD+R AND DVD+RW.

speaking from personal experience i wont be buying another liteon product,had a dvd + and - rw drive for my pc which gave me hassle until i sent it back and demanded a differnt burner,i also talked to a friend who works as a pc repair man and he said hes had alot of problems wit liteon drives

As reported above Lite-on is who Sony get to build their drives.
They are very well recieved in the PC industry

thers a dvd recorder in aldi next week for 229 yo yo's right here

the argos one is dvd-rw and dvd+Rw plus vcd and svcd on cdr cdrw

This is a very good recorder for the price from what I've read. However playback of retails DVDs is supposed to be poor until you upgrade the firmware. I'd certainly go for one of these over the Philips recorders that Xtra Vision are selleng for €299 as the philips recorder is +rw only.
