It is a shame he didn't hold out the extra 11 days it would have taken to sort out Ohio's absentee ballots, but I can understand his reasoning...

    08:15 PST (AP) --

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush won a second term from a divided and anxious nation, his promise of steady, strong wartime leadership trumping John Kerry's fresh-start approach to Iraq and joblessness. After a long, tense night of vote counting, the Democrat called Bush Wednesday to concede Ohio and the presidency, The Associated Press learned.

Kerry ended his quest, concluding one of the most expensive and bitterly contested races on record, with a call to the president shortly after 11 a.m. EST, according to two officials familiar with the conversation.

    Mike.

here's my prediction for the second Bush term:

Draft re-instated, high death toll in Iraq and failure of the elections in Jan., growing apathy for the war in the US (more and more comparisons with Vietnam than ever before).

And my outside guess.... a new president before 2008 due to some huge scandal involving Bush, I dont have any reason to think that other than Bush is a slimy f*cker and I hope he rots.... so don't quote me on it unless I'm right :D

No point in saying it's over until Kerry or Edwards stand up there and say its over.

We're hardly going to take the word of someone who works in the Bush administration are we? :)

so depressing. after the initial promise...friends and i followed the whole thing through the night. I just can't understand the outcome. I just can't believe more americans wanted him back in the whitehouse than wanted him out.

As long as he doesn't try and overturn previous rulings on the cap of having just two terms in office. As terrifying as the chant "four more years" is, how much worse if it was "eight more years! eight more years!" frown.gif

American public aren't doing much to combat the stereotype applied to them by the rest of the world.
Its such a sad day when a man like that is re-elected. do these people not learn from their mistakes? Tony blaire will be chuffed - there may be hope for him yet...(although choice is slightly more limited in the UK)

    Kerry called Bush to concede.

I went out and voted for Kerry but I new the whole time Bush was going to win.
It was as if there was an Omen telling us, the entire day was full of black clouds and pouring rain...a sign of what is to come.

It is sad to know that I am the only person that voted for Kerry in my office. It also fits the demographic,
Rich white americans ...they like Bush because he keeps them Rich and keeps the poor poor.
So the majority of wealthy people in America got His vote.

As I said in another thread, for the last 4 years Bush has done more than outsource, Take away jobs and benefits, strike terror into foriegn contries under attack, make the world hate america,
    He has been buying votes...literally.

When he adopted the tax reform giving more money back at the end of the year to the middleclass, he was buying votes and brainwashing. The middleclass who got all that money they had never seen before it made Bush look better in thier eyes...and they want more no matter what the cost.
Those middleclass people who voted for Bush were more than likely parents single or married, who likes the quick easy buck and doesnt realise that everything around them is crumbling.

He gave single parents money, $600 for each child and married $300 in July for the last 2 years. These people remember that,
they dont remember someone else giving them free money do they?
it makes up for all the bad if they can make a buck keeping him in office.

The people are so under-educated here, and not willing to learn or change..that is why he Won.
There is nothing that can be done now, we can only hope for a worthy democratic candidate in 4 years (my vote is for Hilary) or that Bush and Cheney befall some terrible accident ;)

It was inevitable, he is a Bush.
    We need another Clinton :D

    Right.

I'm off to the Aillwee caves for 4 years. I have an articulated truck filled with 12 tonnes of tinned foods, 200 gallons of vodka, 28 boxes of unused porn and 3 laptops.

    Who's with me?

That part of me which values truth and justice is devastated today.

However that part of me which enjoys watching explosions on TV is quite pleased actually

I know this isn't exactly a productive post but I have to vent this and it's safer to do it here and risk a banning than to do it in the net café and risk a beating:
    Fúck!
