Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anybody any views on this new SUV?
I think it looks pretty appealing but when you look at the engine specs and emissions it is very disappointing. It is like they are bringing it to market before it is ready as they think looks alone will shift it.
Apparently there will be a new engine from the Jag XE going into it later on but it will have freelander 2.2 engines initially.
I imagine the UK mags will say it's great and gloss over the poor engine.
Would you have one over a BMW X3 or Audi Q5?

Yeah or ford duratorq, whatever is more British.

Id let the XE owners do the beta testing on the ingenium engine

Point is its been good enough for the RRE till now, its not the end of the world

Looks like a 5 door Evoque to me.

JLR sales figures are very good at the moment. In particular, the Evoque's sales are very strong.

However, the current Land/Range Rover range, especially the Evoque, looks very "plasticky" (for want of a better adjective) and there's a lot of style over substance.

Don't get my wrong, as 4x4 vehicles, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Land Rover Discovery are top notch for "go anyhwere" (almost!) capabilities. It's just that the packaging/branding side of things appears to be in danger of overshadowing the utility side of the vehicles.

I recall that the Discovery 3 was a heavy car because it had two chassis, so you had to be careful which engine you bought. I suppose that more recent versions and the this new version have lower kerb weights.

The uk press have nearly all said to wait for the new engine. Once that comes it looks like a pretty nice unit, much better looking than freelancer, 5+2 seating. Will have proper bad weather and off road capability and not as dinky as the Evoque.

No, it looks to be still a 2.5 tonner.

JLR are moving to build vehicles from almost entirely Aluminium, the current full fat range Rover is 450kg lighter than the old despite being bigger. They certainly are aiming for the luxury end losing some distinctiveness in the process but there's supposed to be a new baby vehicle on the way plus the Defender replacement (which traditionalists will hate!)

A lot of people have remarked that from the side you can't tell the new Discovery Sport from the Ford Explorer!

I'd definitely wait fro the new Ingenium engine, not that I'd ever afford one.

Ford explorer is a nice looking car, it would sell a lot if released here with a suitable engine.

LR have hit after hit and getting the look right, ford launch the kuga and get the look wrong imo.

If it comes with the V6 3 litre diesel from jaguar then it could be worth a punt, nothing with a 2.2 or 2 litre 4 pot deserves a 'sport' badge imo. and engines that small shouldnt be in a 4x4

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Sales are good. Margins for all LR are very good. JLR makes a loss on every J sold though.
