Empty house - Drain water system?

    Hi,
I am looking after my dad's house since he passed away, now I'm worried about freezing pipes over the winter. Heating the house isn't really an option as it is so badly insulated that as soon as the heating goes off it's freezing again.

So, should I just drain the entire water system?
Is there some order to do that in? Is there something I should be careful of?

    Thanks for any tips.

As advised, find the mains stopcock, turn off. Open taps in kitchen, bathroom etc....

Now check radiator in hall and see if you have a drain off valve like this Link stick a hose onto it and place outside front door or wherever suits and open it up...
