Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

Wondering if many others have applied for IRCSET funding this year? Judging by the last couple years of threads on here the competition is getting tougher and tougher every year!

Any one else going for different funding options? I'm thinking of applying for DIT Fiosraigh as well

    Hi!

I applied for the IRCSET funding. The competition seem to be very tough. I'm a foreign student and bit worried that only Irish students will get the scholarship.

I also applied for the Hardiman research scholarship (NUIG). I'm on the reserve list for that scholarship, but I'm not counting on getting it.

Hi, I also applied for IRCSET. I'm wondering when will the result be published... Does anyone know the date?

    Waiting is so tough...

    Hi!

They said end of April, so hopefully next week. I applied for another scholarship and they were late with the results...so I'm hoping IRCSET will publish the results next week. I know, waiting is tough! I'm checking the IRCSET web page all the time...

    Hi,

And I'm also checking the online system again and again. But my status keeps saying "ready for review". Is that the last status before results?

My status also says "ready for review". It must be the last status before results...or else we will have to wait a long time before the results are published..

Wow, how did you know that?

So, we don't have to refresh the web again and again. Wish everyone good luck!

alright, I also find it from their website...

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 Partition

I too have been checking the website everyday. I'm vowing to not go back until next Thursday, 26th! Best of luck to everyone, post up here how you get on :D Does anyone have any indication how many places there are this year? I'd imagine with all the recent cuts it will be lower than ever...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 jennyhogstrom

I don't know how many scholarships they offer but it's probably less than last year :/ In general, this year does not look good for postgrad programs. Anyway, best of luck to everyone!

    Hi shenyt77,

I got an email with the details from IRCSET at the end of the week. The deadline stated for returning the forms, both if you are accepting and not accepting, is the 25th May.

They then await you to forward your exam transcripts up util September if you don't have them by the end of May, and then the whole application is again reviewed based on your exam results to see if they will give you the final approval. It says the earliest date research under the scheme can start is the 1st July, and the latest date is the 1st December.

    Hope that helps!

Did you get your score in IRCSET?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 jennyhogstrom

    Hi!

What are you studying (just out of curiosity)? I didn't get the scholarship and I'm just wondering if my project (cancer biology) affected the application. I have really good grades, did my Master's at a top University, I've worked 1,5 years at one of the most successful cancer labs in Europe, publication on the way, best Master's thesis of the year (didn't know this when I applied but I let them know that this was expected)..

That feedback email was a little, um, sparse on details. Would have been nice for some constructive criticism besides a score, but I suppose there were over 300 rejections and that'd be a lot of typing.

No, I never even got a reply after I emailed in asking to be withdrawn.

I'm studying electrical engineering if that question by the other poster was addressed to me.
