Theft of vial of JPII's blood linked to Satanism

I see that the head of something called the Anti-Plagiarism Observatory has put forward the theory that Satanists are responsible for the theft of a vial of Pope John Paul II's blood, seeing as, apparently, "some Satanic cults see the period of January 20-27 as a time for......holding of a sacrifical victim for Candlemas".

Not surprisingly, no evidence for these remarkable claims is cited. And in any case, where exactly is the "sacrifical victim" here, as the man died nine years ago?
Meanwhile, the head of the Anti-Plagiarism Observatory, Giovanni Panunzio, suggested that the theft might be linked to Satanism, given that the end of January represents a key moment in the Satanic calendar. Some Satanic cults see the period of January 20-27 as a time for the “abduction, ceremonial preparation and holding of a sacrificial victim for Candlemas”, a feast day celebrated along with other “satanic revels” on February 2nd.

My 2c: applying Occam's razor, it is at least as likely, probably much more so given the known tradition in Roman Catholicism of venerating relics, that a Catholic pietist is responsible for the theft and is holding it somewhere to conduct venerations. Or indeed an unethical entrepreneur who plans to exploit the market for venerating relics among devout Catholics.

It's like the plots of "the Omen" and "The Boys from Brazil" melded together and brought to life.

If we're going supernatural for an explanation of the theft, would it not be more likely that vampirism is the reason for the theft? :P

If you can read this, you're too close!

Maybe it wasn't blood at all and JP will rise from an oily substance or possess people?

If only there was some organization around that could help them turn an ordinary household fluid into blood.

do popes routinely donate blood to be held as keepsakes? are francis's toenail clippings swept up by a nun muttering incantations and stored in a holy reliquary?
