Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There are workmen in my job who didn't tell me they were going to turn off the power before they did it  I'm now locked out of my computer. I get the blue screen with the message 'windows has shut down to prevent damage' 'unmountable-boot-volume'. I've tried running it in safe mode but I just get a running screen of numbers before the blue screen comes back up. I've gone through all the options but they all lead me to the blue screen. Any ideas before I get the engineer out (could take a few days!)

    From the horses mouth:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555302

I presume it is most likely a damaged file system (don't panic it doesn't nescessarly mean any lost data) so you are most interested in this bit:
If it's a damaged file system case then:-
1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.

2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.

3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.

4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.

6.At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer.

This takes a bit longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.
