Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought you might have misread the date on BBs original post, which was from last week. 20 miles @pmp + 4%-5% is a damn good (tough) session three weeks out, but would be a bit much two weeks away from goal marathon. Just to be clear, there are exactly 19 days to Dublin marathon. :)

:) - he ended up running 7:40 pace, with a handful of miles at MP, reckon he just needs to keep it between the ditches now.

Sunday works perfectly for me. Have a great route from Shankill as far as Marlay and back again, and can stash a few drinks along the route, but am completely flexible about locations.

    Looks great. Count me in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,065 ✭✭✭dublin runner

The last one before the big one.....

Looking to do 13 miles this Sunday around 7 minute miles or just over. Flexible on time and venue. May drop the pace for the last 2/3 miles but nothing savage (!).

Fire me a PM, text or reply here.

    DR.

Might be up for this if the Lufthansa pilots are on strike. Can you make it 10am?

Very. Three Rock, Two Rock, Tibradden and Cruagh. And back. We will be taking it slowly though.

What is your definition of 'slow'?

:D I dunno pace-wise, but effortwise fairly easy. I know that's about as clear as mud, but we won't be racing that's for sure.
We'll be like the marines - no man (or woman) gets left behind...

If the group is fairly big, I might not feel too bad about lagging behind (my definition of 'easy' is 10-11 min/mi, and my post-marathon legs are currently closer to the 11 mark...). If the group is small and fast, I might just do my own thing in the end, and not hold everyone up. Will keep an eye on this thread and see what kind of take-up there is closer to the time. In my calendar so far

Edit: way slower on THAT route! But still looks interesting

Actually I've other plans tomorrow so wouldn't be worth my while doing 30 mins. Paulie if you're doing this again in 2 weeks I'd be interested :pac:

I'm up for this. Looking at the weather Saturday seems to be the better day.

    Any other takers?

Sunday would be better for me: if this ends up being Saturday, I'll probably just head out to Phoenix Park for 2-3 hours on Sunday instead.

Heh. Here was I wondering why my regular threads were so quiet, then I realised it was because they were the DCM and sub-3 support threads. D'Oh.

I'd love to do this, put a face on some of you anonymous internet wrongers if nothing else. I've done Kilmashogue car park to Two Rock (and followed the WW down to the road) so I've an idea of the climbing involved. It's tough enough, but I'd love to run it in company this time. I can do either day, but I'd prefer Sunday as that's long run day anyway. I'll go when the gang goes anyhoo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,196 ✭✭✭PaulieC

Sunday is looking like a better day for me. Looks like there's a few for both days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,225 ✭✭✭DogSlySmile

Lets decide on a day then.

Heres the weather for Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday looking slightly better with less rain. I was up in Ticknock this morning and its very muddy, lots of puddles etc. Even if there is no rain on Saturday we would still get pretty wet so I'm easy for either day.

So lets just pick a day. Dont make me add a table

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,196 ✭✭✭PaulieC

I have to work on Saturday so Sunday suits me better, but I have been emotionally blackmailed into pacing a first timer in the Clontarf HM on the 29th so I can't make Run The Line, hence a recce is not really necessary. If people are about on Sunday I'll head up, if not I'll run elsewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,533 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

Weather now looks better on Sunday. So how about a show of hands for Sunday? Maybe add a 'Thanks' to PaulieC's post if you plan on attending Sunday, and thanks Gerard_65's post if you plan on turning up on Saturday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭AdpRo

I was hoping to make this and do the short course but knew earlier in the week I wouldn't so headed up this morning, its very wet up there and you are ankle deep in water on most of the trails, knee deep in one part on the way up!! Trail runners are a must and i found coming down at the end the hardest part as legs were tired at that stage and it was very wet.

DogSlySmile, Did I take a photo of you in the knee deep water?

Yeah, sorry about that. My Mrs bringing her mother to town takes precedence over me 'running around in a field'
