Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who's in the running for the Blackburn job?

Well, with Hughes gone, will Blackburn "do a Bolton"?

Was Hughes the only man seemingly capable of taking a club the size of Blackburn Rovers to the heights they have found themselves at this past few years?

Would they do a Newcastle and try to tempt King Kenny out of retirement?

Big Sam? Would he do it?

George Graham? Their combative, tough tackling style might be to his taste?

Fat Sam is the obvious but I'm gonna throw Mike Newell into the mixer. He used to play for them and all that.

Would have thought it was a 2 horse race between Alaardyce and McClaren now that Jewell has ruled himself out.

Wouldn't rule out an ex-player either being given the chance (maybe Colin Hendry or even Shearer)

I assume Big Sam will get it. I'd be surprised if it went elsewhere, don't think there's any other viable candidate really who could continue Hughes' progress.

    Avram Grant might be tempted

Hopefully not Big Sam - waste of time and money in my opinion

I will throw in Paul Ince -

    Brian Kerr
Doherty and Santa Cruz to form a formidable partnership up front

Sir Alex Ferguson..........or maybe Roy Hodgsen could give it another go?

Seeing as Blackburn will be one of our man competitors next season, I hope it's Fat Sam. He will wield his midas touch over the likes of Bentley, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Pedersen et el.

He might even be daft enough to splash out £6 million on Smith again.

In fairness though, I would love to see someone like Ince get the job. Seems to be a great manager and a great character for the game, he deserves the chance ahead of someone like Graham, O'Leary, Venables et.

Edit: SSN seem to be saying Shearer is leading the race for the job. I am not sure what to make of this.

In an ideal world, I would love him to fail (But that's such a cnutish thing to wish on another club, I know). I love Wor Al, but his shadow looms over our club, and if he looks any way decent this season, there will be rife speculation about him ousting KK, something I wouldn't be in favour of.

I think Alan would rather cut his teeth at someone like Blackburn, rather than jumping straight into the Newcastle hot seat, so I can see alot in this story.

Stand by for a rush of transfer requests if it is Allardyce.

    Mike.

    steve coppell?

AFAIK he's given the chairman his word that he's sticking with Reading to try and get them promoted next season.

ABBA - Anyone But Bloody Allardyce

Coppell could be in with a shut - however i wouldnt be impressed with the way he just laid down and died from Januaury to May last year he just ran right out of ideas.

I would love to see Ince at this level with a decent squad and a small few quid to spend

I bet Allardyce wishes he was running Hamburger FC.

Strachan's a good shout, I'd like to see him back in the Premiership.

I hope it's not Coppell, Shearer or Fat Sam. Odds are it's one of them though!

Maybe he could take on Jamie Redknapp as his assistant, get him off the TV too!

Linekar may just have dropped a hint on the bbc, at the end of the Romania France coverage,

said something along the lines of,

and that leaves just enough time for Alan to check the small print on his contract

Interesting, but probably just stirring it up, apparently they have a list of 40

Seems to be a lot more paper talk about Shearer

Would love it if he got it, as i reckon he's a spoofer & would get him off the BBC

    I'd take Allardyce over Shearer.

Big Sam would do a decent job... look at what he did with Bolton. He wasn't given any time at Newcastle.

See Shearer has ruled himself out of the running.

Ince or Alladice now I would guess. Id like to see how Paul Ince would handle a premier league job, has done very well at MK Dons. He would certainly get a hot reception taking Blackburn to Upton Park!

Ince has been declined the chance to speak with Leicester, i dont think that'll be the case if Blackburn come calling.
