Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know what would happened if you were stopped by the gardai and your fully licensed driver had their license for a year rather than the 2 years?

Its up to you to satisfy your qualified driver meets the requirements. They can convict and fine you.

They are not an accompanying driver in that case, and you would face the same consequences as someone who drives unaccompanied.

You will go to jail. No questions asked!

Bit extreme there. Although if it meant being transported on a prison ship to Oz I think there will be a massive increase in people driving unaccompanied.

OP, you are looking at a driving conviction on your licence and a fine.

Don't post in this forum again if that's all you have to say.

it all depends on the garda in question and the mood they are in.

Legally you are driving in the wrong and if the garda wants they can bring you to court for driving unaccompanied, but given our courts system by the time it gets to court the garda would really need to have a grudge against you.

most of the time the garda will make a note of it and that'll be the end of it (assuming you were not cheeky to the garda) .... if it happens regularly then you may get caught with a Garda who sticks to the letter of the law ...or during some kind of Garda clampdown on "L" plate drivers - and could be in trouble.

its better than driving alone on an "L" plate ....yet Gardai will on occasion let this go !!
