Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

was awoken at 2 a.m. this morning to the sounds of election posters being attached to telephone poles along my street . the particular bunch of goons were hauling an extending ladder up the street stopping at every lamp post making huge racket .

woke up as initially thought I was being burgled

I angrily tweeted the politician in question on the posters but have yet to get a response .

I know they were only supposed to put up posters as of today but 2a.m. ffs !

They were grabbing the best poles for publicity, 2am was taking the piss though.

My "No Canvassers" notice on my door is working surprisingly well as for years I was annoyed at all hours of the evening by them calling and spouting the same old same old. Still get their junk mail flyers in the door though.

I was out until 5am this morning putting up posters. If it didn't happen last night then all the premium poster positions would be gone. The only time you'll see a member of the socialist party do any real work is when he's running up a ladder with a poster of Joe Higgins under the oxter.

Why dont you get a no junk notice for your door too, works a treat. No more takeaway menus being thrown in the letter box.

Just put up a "no election materials" sign as well.

I always examine each poster carefully and vote for the candidate with the best picture framework and lighting.

Luckily all my neighbours are of the non voting variety (foreigners, council/sheltered housing) so I dont get canvassers.

Speaking of idiocy, poor ole Fine Gael have a bit of mixed messaging in Waterford-every lampost has any one of all 3 European candidates with a vote number 1 sign! If they cant decide, how do they expect the electorate to?!

Some of the posters that are going up here are unbelievable, like this one that says "Have a good trip home"

was out cycling this morning at 5:30 and some retard in a ladder in black walked across the road. Only that I saw the ladder tilt I would have cycled straight into him.

    Not being smart but why?

Do you think anyone has ever cast their vote based on someones picture they saw on a lamp post?

I just got home from driving through my town, stuck behind a guy in a van reading from a megaphone and driving at around 20kph. He wouldn't pull in at all to let people pass and what he was saying was completely inaudible. By the time I got home and opened the windows, here's yer man with his inaudible murmur like as if he had followed me home.

The posters are a disaster too. I'm not one for banning everything but the posters should be banned outright as soon as possible.

If you're voting for a party you'll want to know the candidates. Some people vote as a matter of course no matter what so awareness probably creates a few number ones.

If you are voting for a party you will probably be well aware of the candidates, and who do you give your first preference to based on their pictures looking at you from a lamp post?

Anybody else notice how small the Labour and Fine Gael logos are on their elections posters? Actually, they're so small you probably didn't. :D

I don't know about the blokes, but I wouldn't be voting for any of the female candidates based on their looks either if that was the intention...
