Stove- Set Up and Cleaning question

    Folks,

    Thinking of buying a Stove to replace the fire and mainly to use to top up the oil heating as the room concerned is large and hard to heat to comfortable level without having the boiler on too high. Its not an option to connect the stove to the heating system.

    Our fireplace is small enough though and most stoves will not slip into the fireplace some of the way so the stove may come right up to the fringe of the hearth. Only stove I have seen that will fit in some of the way is the Ree Petite ,anyone have one of these?Is it normal set up for most stoves to be sitting right up to edge of the hearth? Concerned it may not look great.

    Also when you have a stove fitted what way do you clean your chimney? Is it still possible for sweep to push brushes up through the stove and up the chimney or not?

    Hi, for building regulations you should have the hearth 9 inches infront of the stove and 6 inches to the side. You need to have a deep enough hearth. For sweeping you should be able to sweep through the stove on a non boiler version so long as there are no tight bends.

    Depending on your fireplace opening you could look for an inset stove.
    The following may suit.
    Esse 300 range.
    Woodwarm fireview/enigma inset. (I would choose this)
    Aarrow ecoburn inset.
    Clearview vision inset.
