Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Commuting: Stephen's Green to Citywest Business Park?

    Hi everyone

Nice to join an active and informative community :)

I'm planning a short-term move back to Ireland from London, and wanted some advice on living near St Stephen's Green (or that general south city centre area) and commuting to Kingswood Ave, Citywest Business Park each day.

I know there's a bus from Westmoreland St at 0805, and does this really arrive there by 0900? Anyone do this journey regularly?

When I lived in Navan between 2003 and 2005, I remember hearing all sorts of horror stories about the Red Cow and the Naas Road :D

If I lease a car, what's a good route there? Perhaps South Quays - Emmet Rd - Tyrconnell Rd - Naas Rd (yuk!) - past the Red Cow, and turn off at Kingswood?

I'm certain someone does a similar journey each day, and have the experience to advise on traffic volumes and crunch times.

Thanks one and all! Best wishes, RoyV

Traffic volumes shouldn't be too bad, since you're going against the traffic flow. I'd say that bus timetable is accurate.

The Red Cow can be quite bad. It's atrocious layout means that outbound traffic can be badly held up by heavy inbound traffic. I doubt it would add much more than 15 minutes onto an outbound journey though.

Perhaps look into the LUAS? Kingswood Ave. is Tallaght really, not Citywest. You may be a 10/15 minute walk from the LUAS. :)

Be aware that Kingswood Village (next to Citywest, miles from Luas) is nowhere near Kingswood Estate (north of Tallaght, next to Luas).

If you plan on living near St. Stephen's Green, where will you park your car? Parking spaces in the city centre will set you back a quite substantial sum.

I suggest you find somewhere a bit closer to work.
