Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My first time doing this race but speaking to my club mates it is a fast race as the profile is flat.
I did a lot of the Kerry league races last year and raced in Fermoy a few weeks ago.

My advice, be alert. Hold your line, don't cut off riders.
Are you in a cycling club? Have you cycled in a group before? Do you understand group dynamics?

Lovely day for racing. Nice course too. Thought the a4 race was ruined on the second last lap when it was stopped by the commisionare.

    Why was it stopped?

Yea that destroyed it alright. Was a pity because looked like a break was about to happen which would have strung out the field. As it was some guys who hadn't a leg left got back on. He should have just taken offenders off the road ? No point making empty threats

With 5km to go coming into the left turn at Supervalue I broke of the front and caught the 2 riders up the road. Was then caught by the group only to go again! Soloed for about 2km and had a gap coming onto the hill and though I could hold out - unfortunately not the case (only 500m to go)!!
After I was caught I eased to the finish.

Enjoy & learnt a good deal from it.

Also felt the stopping of the race on the 3rd lap was a great idea to drill into some riders of cycling on the right-hand side of a main road was not allowed.

I have you now, Okane1! I was talking to you after the race in the carpark.
I don't know if stopping the race was a good idea. Some guy had just gone off the front, and got stopped like the rest of us, poor sod. The stoppage really helped those at the back. Anyone know if there many off the back at that stage?

I thought it made the third lap dangerous after we were stopped. Alot of braking and nervousness. Our average was just over 38kmh before we were stopped. Dropped back to 37 then.

I don't know why the Comms don't just disqualify the infringers and stop ruining races for everybody. The Comms' car overtaking the bunch is often the most dangerous part. They won't stop Cat 1 and 2 races, or the likes of Ras Mumhan though.

Wouldn't say blow up just when I was caught. What happened I said "ah fu*k it" and didn't try to jump on. It was another lesson on my part - always try and go with the wheel.

Unsure if I could have jump on the wheel and contested for the sprint but certainly should have tried.
