Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Honda Civic slave cyclinder replacment

    Hiya,

    I have a 98' civic coupe which has surprisingly let me down today. The clutch pedal is super light and the clutch only engages when the pedal is probably an inch of the floor. It sounds to me like a slave cyclinder issue. There is abit of fluid leaking around it.

    Can anyone give me a ball point figure of what this would cost to replace?

    Any special tools needed? Could I DIY this part? It is right at the front of the engine so is easily accessible.

    Search YouTube for ericthecarguy. He has a video on doing it on a civic or maybe an Integra. Then decide if you feel you can do it.

    A neighbour of mine called around earlier this evening and was chatting to him about the car. He opened the bleed nipple on the slave cyclinder and I pumped the clutch and alot of this gunk came out. Took about 15 mins of a continuous cycle of pumping the clutch and then topped up the whole system. Now the clutch seems to be perfect. Hmmm that saved me alot of hassle and a few quid. That fluid I seen around the slave cyclinder actually was engine oil that leaked down from the leaky valve cover gasket. Thank god for that because I'm skint at the minute.
