Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Think my engine is leaking oil from the rocker cover seal.

Anyone have a ballpark figure how much a mechanic would charge to replace it? Engine is a 1.7 diesel, Opel Combo.

Just wondering if it's worth doing the job myself if it's cost effective.

Gaskets I've found online have all been around the €20 price and up.

Got a quote for 2 hrs labour plus the price of the kit.

That sounds like way too much labour, I would have thought that 30-40 mins would have it done…

Might be something complicated about your engine. Someone else will confirm :)

I think it's because of the amount of stuff that needs to be removed prior to removing the cover itself.

Do it yourself, hardly an easier job under the bonnet (that involves oily bits)

It's not a job I've tackled before. And seeing as the injectors, timing belt etc need to be removed, I'm paranoid of making a mistake and creating a bigger problem.

Surely the timing belt and injectors don't ned to be removed? I'm yet to see a car that this is the case. Sometimes the top of the timing belt COVER blocks removal and must be removed, but as for injectors, I can't see why this would be the case.

2006 Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6Hdi leaking around rocker cover.

I've been told Rocker Cover needs replacing as well as gasket - 250€ plus 3hrs labour !

It only recent started leaking so that I would notice it so is it pre-mature to replace the cover itself ?

If not, is it something that must be bought new or can they be repaired ?
