Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Does anyone know if there is any prospect of colour scans of these books for the Republic been made available online in the future.

    Those of the six NI counties are online (see the PRONI website).

    A handful of the rest incl. Kerry and Dublin (as far as I know) have been scanned and are available on a computer terminal at the Valuation Office, Lower Abbey St. The rest (the originals) are available to view, for a charge.

    As far back as 2 years ago John Grenham and Claire Santry reported that scanning was ongoing. No word since though. Some of the other associated books are apparently due online 'shortly'. How long is a piece of string? Ha!

    I am not certain but I though I read a piece by Clare Santry recently where she mentioned that the books had been scanned in colour. and were due to appear online shortly. Perhaps I just imagined it out of wishful thinking.

    There would not be much point in black & white scans, as the whole point is to see the colour coded revisions.
    Eventually the colour codes for each year were standardised and used by the valuators, but some were slow to adopt the standard colours.

    When the Dublin and Tipperary revision books were made available on the VO reading room computer terminal, a few people used them, but I rarely see it used now, everybody prefers the actual books, they are handier and faster to use.

    Was at a Talk in the Valuation Office this week and this is the latest:

    Digitisation - Cork City and County, Dublin City and County, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo and Tipperary. Donegal and Galway to be added shortly. On computers in Valuation Office

    Ireland has been so good about releasing records that I hate to complain. But those Revision Books are invaluable and I really wish they'd come online soon. My ancestors were spread from Cork to Antrim. The online Antrim records have been critical in my research. It unfortunately does not help anyone outside Ireland if they are only available there.
